Can I Get A Refund For A Change Of Judge?

I've entered a show, and have just received my numbers. There was a big entry, so the judge for 9 breeds has been changed. There was no notification of this before entries closed to let people withdraw if they wanted to (I entered very early).

If I ask for a refund of my entry fees, should I get one? Or will the club just say 'bad luck'?

The show is a specialty, and the new (extra judge) is from a country that has hardly any of my breed, so I am very disappointed :D

Usually they have a clause that gives them the right to change, substitute or appoint an extra judge (if large entry). No refunds.

It is annoying. I remember entering a show where we had a breed specialist overseas, got a huge entry and we ended up with a local judge. Nothing against the locals but if I knew before hand I wouldn't have entered.

I know which show you are talking about Gail and yes, you are entitled to a refund if there is a change of Judge but I'm not sure how it goes if the original Judge is still doing General Specials, therefore it isn't actually a change of Judge just an additional Judge. Maybe someone could clarify that for us all.

Thanks for replies. I've decided to go to this show anyway. Just disappointed that, in the break up of breeds between the original and new judge, a breed that the new judge is unlikely to have seen much before was allocated to her. I can get this at all breeds shows LOL - don't want it at a specialty

(and I've got the flu so am grumpy and less tolerant than usual)

A judge change entitles an exhibitor to get a full refund for that event only, however the request must be put in writing and in the hands of the Show Secretary no less than one hour prior to the event starting that day.
