Read that and I also have How To Speak Dog.

I preferred How Dogs Think but at the time the book store didn't have it, so I bought one of his others.

Very imformative and made me go wow in some sections! Great author.

Adding my praises. My copy was borrowed from someone who needed it back before I' finished it, so I have to get my own. It is the sort of book that you can dip into to read up on something that may have immediate relevance.

For instance, their is a section on How dogs see. Someone posted about going around to the corner of his house and his dog growled at him and wondered whether the dog could see him properly. The book goes into great detail about the way dogs see, their peripheral vision, their vision over distance, how they see moving things better than stationary, etc etc.

It's still difficult to determine which behaviour and thoughts a dog may have is correct, as many of the authors of these books all have a different idea :kissbetter:

In "How Dogs Think" he gives a lot of purely physicological explanations. Not just his thoughts and tests, etc.

I'm off to get some more of his books too. Hope the local library has some.

I think the author is excellent, and I remember watching his TV show "Good Dog" which was informative too. The point is that Stanley Coren really gets into the science and psychology of dogs and their relationship with humans. I just read some excerpts on his website www.stanleycoren.com and its given me an appetite to read more.
