Poll: Have You Ever Used The Report Button

I used it for the first time last night when 2 long standing memebers who are one of the reasons i like this forum copped a disgusting post from a new poster.i See that the thread has been removed this morning by Troy.

It is not something i would do lightly,but there is healthy debate,and there was that extreme reaction that wasnt so healthy directed at others.

I've used the report button in the past, like the time the forum was spammed with porn.

I've used it and I have had it used against me many times. I have also reported myself.... usually with a "but if they didn't...." which is then kind of pointless.

Ah so that is why it went poof I was reading it from when it started and was watching it disintegrate and thought when I finally went to bed that it may go "poof" overnight I must say though that I really sympathised with the OP for being confronted with a pup/youngster that was going to die at a very young age so she must have been pretty emotional, overwrought and angry about her situation . However, the thread could have been handled more sensitively, not just by the OP but by some other posters as well. :D

only once and it wasn't for a breach of rules, it was to bring get a post deleted before the person who it was meant for saw it, as could have been really damaging.

Haven't had to use it yet, hope I never have too.

Interesting though, where as some of you like the fiery 'ok corral' style of posting, I find I start to yawn and wonder when the thread will get back on topic. I'm a fiery kinda girl and love a good debate in real life, but I don't like it on the forum when it gets snippy and personal, I tend to walk away from those threads, I left high school a long time ago.

I used it because breeders were being called retards,stupid,liars,unethical and for no other reason than they didnt like some of the responses,which IMO werent nasty until the first shots were fired,and even then were tame compared to some threads.

I've reported myself. Someone posted in a thread I started to say the subject wasn't appropriate for DOL. I reported it so that a mod could decide whether the subject should be discussed. So, not weird at all

I'm sure it's been used against me several times but I have only used it to show Troy multiple threads on the same topic so they can be merged.

I'm fairly pedantic about doubling up threads so it's something I do out of habit. Makes things tidier.

used it twice, the one most recently when someone in a show thread started to refer to everyone who lived in the country as cotton pickin yokels. That really got my goat up

LOL - I wondered where that one had gone......and for the record - us "yokels" gave back just as good as we got

I think it's very difficult to know exactly what people mean in a written forum - although sometimes people give us little gems that you can't misunderstand and I think if they are unduly obscene, defaming etc that's when we should report and at times when the rules have been broken. If it was me in that situation though I think I'd just say that the comment was uncalled for or against the rules and if it escalates from there then I'd report.

Nope... i don't know there is an argument going on this forum half the time, unless it's very obvious. But, Troy usually remove that thread quickly anyway to have time to report (although I only just only realise that's what the report button was for!).
