If something offends you, what is the purpose of taking it off the forum? Does it cease to exist?

Having the post removed means that fewer people will be likely to see it.

If somebody wanted to take legal action over something written here, the first step would be to ask for the post to be deleted by admin. It doesn't cease to exist, but asking that the post be removed is an attempt to minimise the damage.

It's not the war images that are supposed to be funny. It's the dog having terrible pictures running through it's mind that is supposed to 'gel' with the look on his face.

Just because I'm in my 20s does not mean I find those images amusing on their own, and it's obviously not a generational thing because other DOLers who are older found it amusing too. What a ridiculous statement to make - oh yes, young people find horrific war images funny!

Obviously everyone has a different sense of humour, no need to get your knickers in a knot over it. As I said earlier I've seen a hell of a lot more offensive things posted on DOL over the years.

I didn't get my knickers in a knot? I'm explaining why I didn't find it amusing as it didn't seem like people understood why others didn't find it amusing.

I didn't report it.

I'm not for one moment suggesting that you found those photos amusing on their own, I'm looking at this at the video in its' entirety.

If those pictures were replaced by ones of animal cruelity how would you feel then?

Edited to clarify: To me it's more about the appropriate use of images and I don't personaly feel tragic war photos are appropriate to use in something that is meant to be comedic, hopefully I've explained myself well enough there.

If you found the whole video amusing obviously that's up to you but to suggest someone has their knickers in a knot or is some how wrong in their opinion because they didn't doesn't seem terribly on the ball does it?

I think you explained it well. And I agree with you.

agree sas - if the dog was showing emotion as puppy farm images flashed up I doubt anyone would laugh. How is a girl, running naked down a street after being bombed by naphlam (sp) with her clothes literally blown off any nicer?

SmoothieGirl may have reported it, but Troy made the decision that it was offensive and removed it.

Sas, sorry, I didn't mean you specifically when I referred to people getting their knickers in a knot, just people in general. I don't think it was terribly on the ball for people to suggest that whether or not the video was funny is a generational thing. I don't think anyone is wrong in disliking the clip, just as I don't think anyone is wrong for liking it. We all have our own opinions and senses of humour, I don't think it was worth being reported over that's JMO

I am sure the OP posted as a joke, not with the intention of offending everyone, just further point that our senses of humour will vary

ETA: Actually I would have found animal related images more ironic, seeing as it was from a dog's perspective, again JMO.

Actually what I would have found really funny would have been images of things dogs would find disturbing i.e. dog toys being cut up or food being thrown in the bin.

That's the way I took it as well & I'm in my late 50's, so it's not an age thing.

I don't usually find many things offensive, but I did find that clip a bit upsetting. I had no idea there was meant to be a joke behind it - I actually thought the original clip and been hacked or something and those images put in there to deliberately upset people (not the OP, but the person who created the clip). Now that it's been explained I understand it, but like others, I do find those pictures upsetting enough to make me stop watching.
