English Shepherd

I'm 'talking' with a friend of a friend on Facebook. She does agility and has an English Shepherd. I'd never heard of this breed and did a google. I gather it is a US developed breed. I don't see them listed as a breed at Vic Dog. Are they a recognised breed anywhere and are there any in Australia? Just curious.

I just discovered this breed last week, via facebook too! I asked some Aussie Shep people on the weekend and they hadn't heard of the breed.

They look remarkably similar to Border Collies to me.

They aren't AKC recognised.

LOL, the UKC recognises them, but then again if it's got four legs, they'll register it

I have loved them from afar for a long long time. They are a gorgeous looking dog, in a way similar to the Aussie, and some of the info I have read on Aussies suggest that the Aussie is a derivative of the English Shepherd, amongst other dogs.

I have never been able to find any sign of them being in Australia, and have done loads and loads of Googling :D but if ever you find one/some, please give me a hoy as I would be most interested.

My old boy was a GS x something back and tan, and some of the pics of the English shepherd remind me so much of him .

Interesting that both the Australian Shepherd and English Shepherd are American........ ;) .

Just had a look at the English Shepherds. Beautiful colours

They do look similar to Border Collies.
