Bubitty
Bitty just got desexed yesterday. I am to keep her inside and quiet but she is back to her normal self again and I am finding the task more difficult. Any ideas on what I can do with her? I cant even train her because that requires a lot of movement! The next 10 days is going to drive me off the rails!!!!!
Golden Rules
Does she like doggy DVDs? Has she seen 'Up'? Sorry, I'm not much use Kongs, Kongs and more Kongs.
Pointees
Kong toys with peanut butter in it. Frozen lamb flaps. Gives them a lot of chewing time. Squeaky toys, as annoying as they can be. Grooming time and some massages. Really calms dogs down. I would say some small simple forms of training... Like teaching her to 'watch', 'touch' and/or 'focus'. You could do 'wait' in front of her food bowl, etc. Hope that helps!

sandgrubber
My vet says forget ten days . . .don't encourage heavy exercise, but walking is fine after a couple days provided your girl wants to go. That's what I tell clients too. It's better to go for a short walk on lead that to go absolutely nuts at home. Controlled walking is fine, it's more the jumping up and stretching that is problematic. I usually recommend quiet the night of surgery and the following day, but if the dog is going crazy then a walk is fine
Bubitty
She's tried to hop onto my lap a few times which is really disconcerting. I think I will brave it out for 3 full days and then do a slow walk on lead! Edited March 19, 2010 by Bub

Bubitty
Whoops! Yes I meant hop! No its her way of trying to get me to do loud noisy things with her! When she wants a cuddle she lies down and taps her tail!
huski
I taught Daisy lots of tricks after she'd been desexed. It took her not even a full 24 hours to go back to being an evil beagle I think I still have a video of Baby Daisy learning how to give hi-10, still with her stitches in

Once he had gotten over the initial shock and wasnt groggy or what ever he was pretty right, I left him for around 2 or 3 days and then after thatt i walked him, just halfed the time and the distance.
