Not Passing Faeces

My 4yr old Golden Retriever got more dinner than she usually does. My father didnt even ask if I had fed her and just randomly gave her a huge meal even though I had already fed her the maximum amount only half hour before. So all up for dinner she had 4 cups of dry food

Makes me so angry as everyone knows I feed all animals her unless otherwise instructed

Anyway this was at 8pm and her abdomen feels very hard and she hasnt passed anything (she always does within 1-2hrs). She's not distressed but it feels like a rock, should I give her something to help her start to pass it? It just feels awful and yet she's still smiling. I can hear her stomach rumbling so maybe theres lots of gas as well (also farting like a trooper). She's drinking and she's been eating ALOT of grass outside. She doesnt seem herself.

Would you give anything to a dog and if so what would you give.

Keeping an eye on her overnight if she worsens will be off to emergency otherwise vet first thing in the morning.

Dante got into the Kibble on Monday, he had a big hard tummy. We just watched him, kept him on his bed and inactive and no food for 2 days.

She is probably just overfull and it might take a while for things to get moving. I definately wouldn't be giving her another meal until she is back to normal. She has probably got a very big tummy ache.

If she is acting pretty normally and is active - I wouldn't stress too much (ok - I probably would but don't )

Just keep an eye on her and make sure she is still drinking - if anything changes then take her straight to the vet.

Also - do check around the house to make sure she hasn't chewed up anything that could cause a blockage ...

She's looking a little brighter today, has done one very small poo.

She's drinking ALOT as well, which is a bit odd, but I am not overly concerned about that at the moment.

She never chews anything up so thats unlikely, however she does eat anything she thinks is a possible food source. She could have eaten some woodshavings and rabbit faeces, as i was cleaning the hutches out last night.

She's still tender in the stomach, but i'll keep an eye on her and take her down the vet if she worsens or doesnt improve.

Glad she is doing a little better. You could maybe try her on a little chicken mince with some olive oil to help move her along.

Dry food tends to absorb a lot of moisture so she probably need the fluids to keep things moving.

My boys think everything is a food source and constantly sample it to double check ... our oldest used to eat rocks as a pup. At least the youngest only has an obsession with water and plastic ... ;)

It was always interesting to see what came out the other end ... and trying to work out what it was and if it had all come out.

My vet often said most things come out the other end within 3 days ... if they aren't out by then they are usually not coming out without some help.
