I have a very sooky, sore little girl here at the moment :mad - she went in for her spay yesterday!!! Lets just say it was a stressful day! It was a day full of lectures at uni, and i'm pretty sure I took NOTHING in!!!! She'll be extra extra spoilt the next week or so :mad today I went to the little cheap shop in town and bought her lots of toys, hehe!!!

She was such a good girl!!!!!!! and it was very cute to see a slow little wiggle from her bum when I picked her up :mad:mad She's my baby!!!!

And airing her sore little belly :) there is a fan thats pretty much on her and she just lies there like that with the cool air on her!! It makes me a little sad to see her so quiet (she's usually a very active bouncy girl!!!)

Hehe, I know, I will!! I think it's going to be hard to keep her quiet for the next few days!!! I took her out for a toilet break ealier on lead, and she found a stick and gave it to me, i felt a little mean by taking it and not throwing it, as she was waiting so patiently for me too!! hehe!!

Oh my poor baby girl was desexed today as well! She is now fast asleep in her crate looking very forlorn!

Her brother has been sitting in front of her crate door, facing us and giving us very dark looks!

Just treat her like normal, she isnt broken.

Remember dogs will learn very quickly that the new privileges this week will be wanted the following & so on.just go about things normal so the dogs feels comfy & not overwhelmed why things have suddenly changed.

Awwww, the poor little chicken (my kids tell me the dogs are NOT chickens, but mine all get called "Chicken" or "Possum" cos they are just so cute). My baby girl isn't speyed yet as the jury is still out on whether I'll keep showing her but I am dreading the day. On the other hand, my Lhasa is 15 and has never been speyed, never had pups and she is just as fine as can be (and has outlived her speyed Maltese buddy by 3 years so far).

awww she'll be ok one night of discomfort is better than being heavily pregnant with pups and probably not as uncomfortable

Yep, and with all the wondering entire dogs around here :flame::mad (we've moved to a small town and they must think it's ok that their dogs can jump the fences and come into other peoples yards) I just didn't want to risk it!! Plus it's not only Lottie in our yard, as in there's two other dogs here, so just not worth the risk for their safety either!!

She's been a good girl so far though, no cone of shame!! (helps that i've been at home with her the whole time keeping an eye on her, meant to be studying but oh well....)

GayleK - I was so iffy/undecided about getting Lottie done now, but after lots of chats with vets and the breeder we decided now was best, and i'm glad I did - I'll have alot less to worry about now :mad

Benson is a neuter and one thing that kind of turns me off is the way his coat has gone, and I've heard it's fairly common with Aussie neuters. It's thick, shaggy, fuzzy and harsh.......it's gotten really horrible over the past couple of years and I spent probably 3 times longer grooming him than I do Dusty. She has her twice annual coat drop, that's a pain but once it's done it's done. He doesn't drop any coat aside from a constant turnover of outer hairs all year round, and to remove his undercoat I have to literally drag it off his body.

I know that's no excuse but I love Dusty's soft silky coat and I dread the day she's neutered and I have to start dealing with two horrid coats.

Oh ok!! hehe, I'll let you know how Lottie's coat goes... she doesn't have a big coat to start with, but hers is the same, so soft and silky!!!!! How big is Dusty? Like height/weight wise?? When did she stop growing?? :rainbowbridge:

I honestly don't know her height or weight. She's not tiny and she's not oversize so about average I'd say. I would estimate she's about 23-25kgs. She could stand to lose a kg or two though. She got to her adult height around 18 months but she's still changing in head and bodyshape...........Coming together is what I call it. She was 2 in December.

Ok thanks for that :rainbowbridge: Lottie's at 18kgs now, and not overweight, I was more interested in when she'd stop/keep growing till!! She wants soooo desperately to go for a run and play!!! She keeps picking up toys and bringing them over to me!!!
