k9angel
Luki's visit this morning went well. I would of stayed longer but OH has to get to his Dads to work on a car. I spent close to an hour with him. He is looking alot better. Still not eating, but he hasnt pooed at all. He even said a tiny hello today. It was adorable, and melted my heart. He knows his name is Luki now and responded to it quiet well. I offered him a tiny bit of steak I broke up into small peices, he smelled it, but didnt eat. At least he is showing a little more interest now. This little man will be so loyal. He absolutely thrives on cuddles. When you pull away the tail starts to wag, encouraging you to come back. He appeared happy to see, and I know I was happy to see him. He still has a little way to go, but I was so worried he wouldnt get through the night and after the Vet saying he had a 50/50 chance, it really frightened me, especially in the condition he is in. They probably came from a local BYB. Who knows how many others there were and the outcomes for them. I say they started to get crook, so the owners thought they'd drop them off to the pound and say they'd found them as strays. Who knows. some people...... I am waiting to hear back from the pound regarding the other little husky. They are going to get in ctc with the new owners and advise them of the situation. If the pup is sick and they cant afford treatment, Ros, from Husky rescue has kindly offered to take him on. She will care for him should be become ill, or require treatment. Thank you Ros. :D I will PM you as soon as any news. Illy just rang. She said she was going to ctc them. Apparently the other little one WAS a little lethargic/had the runs at one stage, but picked up a little. The man who bought him, was told it may or may not be serious. He said he was going straight to the Vet so fingers crossed he did. Back to Luki. The Vet is closed for normal business of a Sunday, but he said they would call when they were doing the morning rounds to let me come see him. ;) (They are only down the road, almost walking distance) So I will visit the little Luki tommorow and hope he continues to improve. k9angel
Pound just called back. The other little one WAS admitted to Vet yesterday, (tried calling you Ros) will PM. He is sick with the runs and vomitting, no parvo test has been done but their Vet says it IS highly likely to be parvo. The pound has passed my ph number to the family, they are not sure if they can continue treatment as it has cost $500 already. It is a terribly expensive thing to treat. Very, very sad. He is on a drip at the monent, so thank God, he is getting some sort of help. I wish I knew what Vet he's at???? not that I could do much. The family is going to talk it over and hopefully call me. I knew he had it too.

teekay
So good to hear Luki is improving. Hope it continues and he is home with you soon. My heart goes out the poor family of the black and white pup. Not what you envision when you pick up your new pup from the pound. Saying prayers for both of them. Poor angels. k9angel
K9 angel- just a query- how do you go with disinfecting etc after you go to a pound/vets with parvo present? How do you avoid carrying it back home?Different shoes? shoe protectors? foot baths? gowns/gloves? What is the procedure? When I call at the vets to buy stuff ,for example- I always put plastic bags around my shoes..then spray the soles with white king.... probably doesn't help- but makes me feel better Hope the little fella is a bit stronger this morning. Dont ask I could be classed as a bit of an obsessive complusive disorder sufferer atm. I have 2 showers yesterday, another this morning. I use bleach for the thongs, diluted bleach for my hands/arms and anywhere else exposed to the dog. I also dissinfect with pino o clean. I change my clothes, they are put straight into the wash, I go around disenfecting and bleaching door handles or anything else Ive touched, which reminds me, I have to do the steering wheel. I basically take as much care as possible. If anything, I go over board a little, but best to be safe than sorry.

roses2905
So glad he is feeling better! And sending further good vibes for the other little one. About 10 years ago when I didnt know anything, a dog jumped the fence, my dog got pregnant, had 11 puppies. When the pups were 7weeks old or so, they all got parvo, mum dog as well. One died, the vet said it had a weak heart. I called several vets, they told me to call the rspca and they would help me, so I did, what the vet meant was they would euth all the pups for me. So I found a vet who took a chance on a young single mum who had pretty much no income, and treated them all. Took me a year to pay off the $5000, and Im pretty sure he didnt charge me the full fee, but he got his money. 10 pups, and the one that died, and the mum. 4 had to be held for over a week, fluids under the skin and everything else, I tell you I knew to vaccinate after that! Anyhoo, reading your story made me remember those poor pups, sending positive wishes all the way!

kookaburra
So happy to hear that Luki is improving and hoping and praying that both these little boys make it. Talk about going that extra mile, it's wonderful to hear what people will do to save a little dogs life. If the saying 'what goes around comes around' is true, the people who have turned their backs on these babies will get what they deserve. Well done k9. Laika
The day he came into pound I saw this little boy near the office when I was there last week. What a stunner! Poor little darling ... he looked so sweet. At least he found you and the vet! So glad to read the last few posts saying he is getting a bit better. Little Gifts
Luki is a beautiful name for a beautiful boy! I am so so glad he is doing a little better - I think that is an excellent sign! I'm really hoping he gets a little better with each day and I hope the other pup that is at the vet is going ok too but you need to focus on Luki - the other family are obviously animal lovers who want to do the right thing too and have other resources if they can't cover the costs. Years ago I used to volunteer to clean, feed and socialise the puppies at the big RSPCA shelter in Brisbane. They had this special clear chemical that we would put on the floors when cleaning and also in these shallow dishes outside every door of every run. Every time we stepped in and out of the runs we would put our shoes in the shallow dish to avoid spreading germs. And I remember back then we put garlic powder and other assorted supplements on their food too which I think helped. Anyway once I got home my boots stayed outside for a scrub and my clothes came straight off and were washed seperately. I never wore those boots of clothes for any other purpose either. I never took anything home to my dogs and yes, saw sick pups and ugly poos every single time I went to there as the pups for rehoming and incoming pups were caged along the same run. You'd know who wasn't going to make it when you saw one wearing a black tag. But none of that for Luki - he has a comfy bed and a new mummy who just loves him to pieces already. How could he miss out on that!

The pic makes him look a little bigger than what he is. He still has his tiny baby pin teeth and his thingys havent even dropped yet. He is only young. Being so young and in such poor condition, and having the parvo test come back with a strong positive reading, I feared the worse. He still isnt out of the woods and to be honest I have butterflies tonight, worrying how he will get through tonight, and whether he will continue to improve. I will be taking that advice and signing off shortly. I do need it. Its been a hard couple of days. And thank you for that pic. It truly cheered me up and bought a happy tear to my eye. Please post it in Mya's thread when you get a chance. It's a gorgeous shot and shows just how happy she is, with youse. As for little Luki, I am thinking of him down there at the Vet. He is so close, yet so far. Here's hoping for more good news in the morning. I am sleeping with my phone under my pillow tonight, incase the Vet calls early. I will be up and out of bed quicker than you can say "Bob's your Uncle" I look forward to seeing him again. Its pelting down with rain here right now. I can hear the huskies out the back, clammer into their kennels. funny buggers. Fingers crossed little Luki is still ok in the morning. I am so nervous, and still have butterflies in my tummy
