Rachel K
Hi all, I have 5 1/2 month Cocker Spaniel who is doing really well with her toilet training. The latest accidents (few and far between) at home have been during heavy rain! We are working through that! My problem is that she has had a couple of accidents in our friends house, she goes into the spare room and poos on his carpet! She has done this a couple of times, however never does this at home! Our friend puppy sat on saturday night, and as soon as she was inside, before he could close the bedroom door, she pooed! Is this common for puppies to get confused in a strange environment? Also, as we have floor boards at home and he has carpet, will this confuse the puppy? Any help much appreciated :-)
sandgrubber
I'd be willing to bet the puppy is trying to do the right thing. My little guys often choose the spare room. Instinct tells them to go away from the nesting area and the spare room doesn't have 'people nest' smells so it seems like a good place to unload. I'd recommend closing the door of the spare room . ..the problem will probably take care of itself as the pup ages.
Dogsfevr
yes it can be confusing because pup would have shown signs of wanting too go & they werent noticed. Also the pup may not feel comfy there . Your pup isnt toilet trained at that age & each encounter brings a new challenge ,you & your friends need to be more awre of the pup when out
