Can anyone tell at what age can a puppy be flown from New Zealand to Australia

Im not sure if there is an min age limit.

I know of a Great Dane that was flown over to NZ at 8 weeks, around 6 weeks ago.

I'm pretty sure they have to be 12 weeks....but don't hold me to that!

As mentioned 12 weeks but just a reminder that you can or someone in NZ on your behalf can do some of the leg work to cut costs but you cannot send the dog yourself you need to go through an accredited pet transport company in NZ to undertake the lodgement for you.

Currently Qantas/Air New Zealand in Melbourne is charging around $66.00 for a collection fee and Virgin around $88.00. The other fees for Customs/Aqis is paid in NZ although lately crates have been coming off flights (both airlines) to customers with their seals still intact, so am unsure what sort of inspection takes place.

That's not a new thing Inspection fee I think refers to them inspecting the paperwork and your cheque

Qantas have recently altered their protocols.

INTERNATIONAL ANIMAL TRANSPORT WITH QANTAS – GENERAL INFORMATION

When planning international transport for your pets the major considerations are the welfare and safety of the animals.

Puppies and kittens are accepted for travel and MUST BE 8 weeks or older for flights that are 14hours or less and 12 weeks or older for flights that are greater than 14hours. All puppies and kittens must be weaned prior to travel.

Where possible, arrangements for travel should be made well in advance of the planned departure.

Note: Where flight times are quoted that includes stop overs.

12 weeks is stated in the rules and regulations for Dogsvic.

So who has the final say, the Airlines or the Registration body?? Obviously if that's the airlines ruling they will take the younger pup on a short flight but there could be repurcussions if you're a Registered Breeder from your "Controlling Body".

Of course if your sending an unregistered pup and your not a registered breeder you don't have to answer to anyone.

Go figure.

8 weeks old from NZ to Aust, and no hassles registering them in QLD - Dogs Vic are a law unto themselves by the sound of it
