Awwww thanks everyone!! I told her she got more birthday wishes than I did when it was my birthday LOL, she tilted her head to the side numerous times, don't think she understood

Happy birthday!!!! She's gorgeous.

What was wrong with her that she needed surgery?

She had a Persistent Right Aortic Arch.. in english it means a vein was obstructing her esophagus/constricting it, so when it was time for the pups to be weaned onto solids, she couldn't swallow any!! She would cry out and arch up in agony and regurgitate her food each time she tried to eat so a quick visit to the vet and a barium test diagnosed the problem... the vet said surgery at 3 weeks could be touch and go considering they had to slice through between 2 ribs and move a few organs out of the way to get to the esophagus area that was constricted and correct the vein. He said breeders usually just put the pup to sleep cos the surgery costs several thousand. But my breeders said she had a twinkle in her eye and a determination about her that they could just NOT put her down... after a painful and careful recovery with the breeder wife spending weeks sleeping on the floor with Shy in a crate and tending to her every need she recovered and when I picked her up at 8 weeks she had an almost entire shaved left side but was still uber cute :(

Happy Birthday Shyla, from Sophie!

Dang I wanted a party hat but didn't have one.. I just ran into my closet and grabbed at random.. heels and scarf LOL

* ETA u can sorta see her shaved side in the last puppy pic where she's lying with the ball.. well u can see a bit of it anyway
