oakeydoak1
Hi All As the title suggests - was wondering how common it is that these things happen, I can honestly say that I didnt really think it was that common until I started coming on DOL. My bitch didnt get pregnant this season and this is the first time that I have had this happen to me. Of course I was devastated but when I read about other people I realise it happens quite a bit. Does anyone have any statistics on it?
ellz
Quite common. I doubt there would be decent statistics anywhere to support it though. Many pregnancies are non-starters due to timing. That is pretty much accepted now. The old days of breeding on the 10th and 12th or 11th and 13th days have been misproven and I think since breeders started to either allow the animals to be their guide OR prog. test, the incidence of non-pregnancy has diminished somewhat. SparkyTansy
I suppose there would be a whole lot of breed factors as well... some breeds have a higher incidence of phantoms and reabsorption perhaps? would be hard to keep track.
oakeydoak1
I suppose your both right - I am a research assistant so I like statistical data - maybe I should make that one of my projects (or maybe not!!)
