Bee Sting!

Hi guys my mini poodle has just been stung on the foot by a bee and the vet just closed - any first aid tips????

get the sting out.

if the dog is in a lot of pain/distress...

soak foot in ice water. for a few minutes

anti histamine if you have some..

phone a vet who IS open, and ask advice on the type/dose of antihistamine.

Hope it is not too bad a reaction ouch!

I did the same as above but I put honey on the sting and washed with vinegar first

no re-action at all just a little sore for a day

Thanks, I did get the sting out and she seems fine - I will just keep an eye on it and go to ice if needed. Umm, that was the latest opening vet here and it is very hard to get onto someone after hrs. Joys of living in the country and don't even ask me about trying to get a police response or ambulance!!!!!

My daughter's paper wasp stings went down incredibly after soaking in bicarb soda added to a bath.

unless she has an allergic reaction you shouln't need a vet for a bee sting. I've given mine half a pink polaramine to ease the pain for them.

Thanks everyone - she is absolutley fine - chasing the ball 5 mins later - resilient little thing as she was definitely stung!
