Boronia Posted March 2, 2010 Share Posted March 2, 2010 (edited) I am pretty sure the reason my clippers are not cutting is that either they are blunt and need the blades sharpened, or, they have the wrong blades. I originally bought them from ebay and the previous owner had a Bichon Frise. They worked sort-of ok at first but hardly cut at all now even if I change the black-comb-like-sizing-depth-thingos (well, what are they called? ) They appear to be adjusted correctly. If I removed the teeth/cutter-bars and sent them to a clipper sharpener person, can you suggest someone who doesn't charge an arm and a leg to sharpen them. Hope someone can help, thanks. Hi there Boronia,if the blade cut first of when you got the clipper with the same blades,and you have clippered a few coats,it is most likely they need a touch-up. When using the plastic combs it is best to use a number #30 blade,the fur doesn't get between the blade and comb so easy. Below is some info on the correct blades required to do Bishons,I hope this helped you. nicestman77. Am I correct in thinking that the black comb-like thingos are called 'blades' Does it matter what the teeth (silver cutting teeth) are? mine have 30-15-10 engraved in them. Can you suggest a person I can send the cutting teeth to...would they sharpen them without having to send the whole handset. That may do with the 20 questions at the moment! Thanks Poodle3081, I have sent the blades off to Colin and also emailed him for his advice when he looks at them. My westies were rescue westies and I don't 'strip' them, just clip, so their hair is not as coarse as the stripped westies, though not soft like a maltese or cavalier, (I like the wiry feel of westies) I don't use conditioners or bathe them very regularly so they don't have really soft hair. Well I know that NOW Showdog I got lazy one time and gave them a brush and thought they could do with a 'bit' of a trim but got carried away! hahaha, be sure your sins will find you out!
