Jed
Yep, September. FFAK, if owners take their dogs, are they expected to explain conformation features to the aspiring judges, or does the dog attend, and the features are explained by those doing the training? Is there sherry?

t-time
OK - dug out my Sept Dogworld for you Bernese? 26th April 7pm if owners take their dogs, are they expected to explain conformation features to the aspiring judges, or does the dog attend, and the features are explained by those doing the training? Is there sherry? You are only supposed to take your dogs if you are invited to do so and then there is usually a designated person to take the lecture but anyone can go along to the lectures. Sherry? I wish! Fit for a King
t-time - not true in Qld. There is an open invitation for anyone to take their dogs to breed lectures and frankly that it what many trainees prefer as they get to see a range of dogs - not just a hand picked selection by the coordinators who may have a particular "type" they prefer or a friend in the breed who only ever gets to display his/her breeding.... Jed - nope there is an appointed lecturer or lecturers on the night so others bringing dogs don't have to speak publicly. They will be asked to stack their docks for inspection and move them singly and with the other exhibits. Of course they can speak to the trainees to stress one thing or another but frankly we have to know the standard asnd apply it to what we see without help from the owners......but in saying that we also want to learn - for example - it's great and all to know what physical characteristics to look for but we also want to know particular attributes - for eg - don't stare at X, don't approach in a certain way, don't teethe in a certain way, make sure to separate coat at a certain spot - all the idiosynchratic stuff........... Oh and no Sherry - tea and coffee though Edited March 8, 2010 by Fit for a King

t-time
FFAK - maybe it's different for other breeds? Or perhaps the rules have changed a little? I take the Hav lecture here in Qld and for the past 3 lectures, I have been asked to bring my dogs or any dogs in my care and had to ask permission to invite other exhibitors/owners to bring their dogs along. Maybe next lecture will be better. I like it when there's more than your own dogs to talk about! You don't have to book but you might like to call the Group Coordinators to ensure they haven't changed the breed night or indeed, if they are HAVING the lectures for that breed. I know my lecture night was cancelled because there aren't enough Group 1 candidates this "cycle" - so no Group 1 breed lectures.
Fit for a King
t-time - the CCCQ have been rabbitting on for months about how anyone and everyone with a particular breed being welcome to attend the breed lectures. certainly many of the coordinators are also repeating the message as I believe they have copped stick for only having their favourites there in the past. I'll be surprised if this is different for Gp 1. I'll email one of them and ask if she has heard anything to the contrary but certainly in 2, 5, 6 and 7 the coordinators are all on the same page with respect to this...... KitKat
There are Group Coordinators? Lol...i wasn't sure how to contact them so i figure i'll call Dogs QLD closer to the date and ask them if it's still on etc Hmm...isn't 26th April a public holiday? or am i thinking hte wrong day? lol Edited March 10, 2010 by KitKat
t-time
the CCCQ have been rabbitting on for months about how anyone and everyone with a particular breed being welcome to attend the breed lectures. ANYONE IS welcome to attend the lectures for any Breed but it's important to contact the Co-ordinator for your Group - Dates for the breed nights change eg: as I mentioned, we didn't have the breed lectures printed in the Dogworld this time around so for me - driving for an hour and a half and having to turn around a go home again would be rather unfortunate! Sometimes there 3 breeds in a night so trying to squeeze in a million dogs of one breed just isn't an option (btw: there is also the Sweepstakes show now which a fab opportunity for new judges to see your dogs)! And apart from that it's just good manners to "book"! If you haven't got your September Dogworld and you need the Group Co-ordinator numbers and just PM me for details :D And there is tea & coffee (and bikkies!) but I will make the Sherry suggestion - don't like my chances! Lowenhart
"Dogs Queensland" (it seems so weird after all these years of the CCC) has the judges training dates & coordinators listed on their site now: http://www.ankc.org.au/media/scripts/doc_d...ad.aspx?did=481 However Groups 1 and 4 are NOT running this year even though they are scheduled.
