Itchy Dog

Recommended Posts

So basically my dog seems to be biting himself quite a bit recently, really since Xmas. It isn't severe or anything like that, he just has a few spots on his body with red lumps in his selected areas.

He does not have fleas, he has been flea'd and the kind of dog he is fleas are easy to spot, plus we don't have a flea problem in our house at all. I am wondering if it is an allergy.

He has had no real diet changes. At present he eats 2 meals per day. 1 is a RMB: Always either Turkey leg/wing, Lamb Neck or Beef Brisket. Then Royal Canin Maxi Breed Junior (sometimes with left over vegies, like pumpkin, brocoli etc.)

So I am wondering what I should do to alleviate this issue? And how could I find out what it is? He turns 1 in a couple of weeks and will get his annual vaccination so I am planning on speaking to the vet at this time and seeing what the recommend.

Thanks for any help in advance.

Hi

It sounds like it might be a fungal infection, this often causes itching in dogs, they call it Queensland itch or summer itch down south. I've just tried a new treatment that worked wonders.

Its an anti itch treatment called Thoroughbred Fix. Its a treatment for fungal infections like Queensland itch, dermatitis, eczema, mange and the like. I used it on my terrier who had Qld itch all over his back, nothing else I tried worked but this stuff cleared it in about 5 days, amazing! It even helped his hair grow back a lot quicker and after about 12 days it was like he had never had a thing wrong with him. You can only get it online at www.thoroughbredfix.com.au and they have some really heavyweight industry endorsements too, so it must be good. Give it a try! I found it incredible.

Steve

Don't discount fleas, you don't have to have a flea problem for it to be a problem to a sensitive dog, after all fleas have to bite dogs generally before they die.

Best to head to your Vet so they can have a look at these small lumps and do some tests and provide you with some advise

Yep, best to discuss with vet and see what it actually is on his skin (if there is infection there, etc.)... could be a number of causes and Allergies could be one... AmStaffs are quite predisposed genetically to allergies.
