GoldenWei
A bit of a story, one of the dogs we have MAY have KC, he is fully vaccinated. He may not have it but he has coughed twice this morning, and sneezed once. It's not really a honking cough. Normally I wouldn't be too concerned, but we have a 12 week only puppy who has only had C3 vaccination. She isn't coughing or anything. I am keeping them separated now (much to their displeasure). I thought I would try manuka honey on them both, just incase it is KC, and for the puppy, to try and prevent it if she has already been exposed. Puppy is already on 1/2 teaspoon of vitamin C daily as it was recommanded by her breeder. Puppy isn't due for her KC vax for another week and a bit. spottychick
I dont see why not. Just small amounts tho. You can give the honey to her straight off your fingers/a spoon or in water. It's good stuff!
t-time
Absolutely! If your going to give a baby anything - a natural source is best. I actually add some Manuka Honey to food if any babies look a bit "off" ;)
Erny
Yes - it's fine with pups. I gave my boy some when he contracted Canine Cough as a pup. Sometimes I put it in some water to ensure he remained hydrated. One mistake I made (once) was that I used too much water and he guzzled it. .... we had lots of pee that time : I'd no sooner clean one pee and another one had already occurred. So my tip is to give it in small quantities of water if/when you do it this way. Other in between times I fed it to him straight from a spoon. GoldenWei
Thank you. Will get some today and start them both off on it. Having said all that, said coughing boy hasn't coughed again.
Erny
When it comes to Active Manuka Honey, my approach is "if in doubt, do it". If my boy has been around an area where I then find out cough/stomach bug etc. etc has been, I dose him. Doesn't hurt, and he loves it, so he certainly doesn't mind it either. And if it were to do nothing else, it makes me feel better that I feel I've done something, and knowing it won't do any harm either way.
