I was wondering what comes with the puppy when bought from a breeder? should they come with any papers?And when the breeder say the puppy comes with a puppy pack, what does it include? Thanks. Ons Posted February 24, 2010 Share Posted February 24, 2010 Onslow came with a folder of what to feed him, his parent's health certificates, his family tree, vacination card, microchip, he didn't come with his registration as from memory it wasn't back in time but posted very shortly after. His breeder was kind enough to give me some of his kibble as well. Tilly came with vacination card, microchip details, registration, parent's health certificates and a booklet on golden retreivers . myzchev Posted February 24, 2010 Share Posted February 24, 2010 With my puppies, whether limit or main, they come with micro chip papers, vaccination card, puppy booklet which includes training tips, info on the breed for those who have not had Belgian Shepherds before. My puppies also come with a Pro Plan pack, so that they go to their new homes with some of the food they where raised on. With Louie who I bought as a puppy I received: - His papers - Vet Records - Bag of toys, grooming products and some puppy food. With my female who I bought as an adult I received her papers, vet records, the food she was currently eating and a crate. Minimum should be ANKC pedigree (if available already), vaccination certificate, and microchip papers if required by law in the state the pup was born. Tilly Posted February 25, 2010 Share Posted February 25, 2010 The last 2 dogs we have brought - 1 came with a printout giving diet and training suggestion, a copy of the parents papers and their test results and the pup. We collected him directly from his breeder. He had a collar on. His papers turned up in the mail a week or two later. The second one came in a crate after his plane ride ... rather smelly and a dehydrated (thankfully not too badly). He was microchipped but it wasn't actually registered anywhere - I had to chase the breeder for his microchipping details but ended up confirming the number with our vet. I had to chase the breeder to find out what he was being fed and his vaccination details. His papers turned up a month or two later after chasing and chasing the breeder. A detailed list of diet, general care and how to socialise the puppy. And the tail-less one came with a letter from a vet attesting to the fact that she was born without a tail and that she was not docked. Handy, with todays inflammatory legislation. Jed Posted February 25, 2010 Share Posted February 25, 2010 (edited) Mine leave home with their own folder with information on the breed breed standard basic training information toilet training information information on vaccinations diet and general care information - what to feed, when to reduce meals, worming, when next vac is due, grooming, washing, blah blah (3 pages) pedigree information on the breed from the canine control, and information on the canine control (supplied by them) photos of parents (sometimes) vaccination certificate microchip details health guarantee copy of the rehoming guarantee, signed by the buyer book on the breed (when I can find one!) 6 weeks free insurance soft toy which the whole litter has played with enough food for a few days No registration papers. I register the entire litter at once, receive the registration certificates from the CC and post them to the new owners when the whole litter has been sold. But I do tell the new owners how long it is likely to take, and in the paperwork they take, it says the pup will be registered, and gives the registered names of the parents and dob, of course. If the registration takes longer than I said, I contact them to tell them why. People hate buying pups from me, it takes forever, and the flamin paperwork weighs more than the pup!! Edited to add - as you can see, everyone does it differently, so it is probably best to ask the breeder before you buy, if it is important to you. Breed standard Copy of puppy sales agreement, clearly outlining that puppy is being sold on Limited Registration Membership application form for relevant CC and the MDBA Certificate of pedigree and 7 generation family tree (Limited registration papers to come later when back from TCA) Written vet certificate passing as ok for sale Vaccination certificate Health summary including worming protocol plus enough worm tablets for the next 2 wormings. Microchip transfer with me as second contact Puppy Primer book Soft toy Polar fleece blanket Collars from first crocheted collar until present CD with photos of sire and dam and littermates from birth until home time 6 weeks Pet Plan insurance Bayer Club gift pack Rubber Curry comb For local puppies, 3 day supply of diet.
