PoppyDog
How do I find places that are dog friendly in my region? Beaches, parks, cafes etc? Is there a website for all this?
Niques
You're in Ipswich, no? Just google "Ipswich dog park". Your council's website will have a list. Similarly, google for dog beaches on the Gold or Sunshine coasts and find the council page.
Jetty
I dont know what area you are in but the only dog beaches I am aware of on the Gold Coast are the Spit in southport (I enjoy this one), Kirra Beach at Kirra and Palm Beach. ETA: Usually if you search on your local councils website they will have a list of beaches and parks. Edited February 19, 2010 by jettyjet
PoppyDog
I just searched through the Gold Coast Beaches on the council website and found that the Tallebudgera Beach has an off leash dog area. Its the part with the water that is open sea...not the creek part. Do I need to wait till my puppy has had all her vaccinations to take her to the beach? Is it just like dog parks? Yes, she needs to be fully vaccinated. I'd be waiting until she's older anyway.. a pup can trigger prey drive in a larger dog. A small pup bullied and roughed up by larger dogs is not what you want. Tallebudgera is the next suburb to Palm Beach so I assuming they are the same. If it says the beach I would assume it is the actual beach besides the creek park. Sorry I haven't taken my dog to that one. I would wait for her Vaccs. As you are unsure what things your dog may catch from other dogs there. There is no fencing at the beaches so I would reccommend starting with you pup onlead for the first trip and see how they go.

Ditto to what PF said. My pup has a small case of fear aggression and I do blame it on me taking him to the busy spit when he was first completely vaccinated as there were some real abnoxious dogs there. If you do take them to the beach I would stick to Tallebudgera or Kirra as they are never as busy.

I can't wait to take her out and about and start socialising her! I will DEF start with her on a leash!
