tlc
Oh and I meant to ask, Bec did something happen to your 50mm, must have missed that!
RottnBullies
Wow Bec, so many great offers. I have to be honest, Im not sure my camera is something I would even consider lending to anyone, maybe Im paranoid, I just figure if it was me and I borrowed something that valuable I know how I would feel if something happened to it. I know they are replacable but still. also I like having it close by as I use it daily To me it would be like someone asking could they lend my dog :D Am I just being selfish, slightly off topic am I the only one who wouldn't consider lending thier camera to someone else? Anyway I really think you should take RJ up on her offer then you could come on a road trip with your cute doggies and of course your georgous husband and we could have a catch up!! I was also thinking the same as you, If I had a good camera It's not something I would lend out, I don't think It's being selfish at all, just extra cautious as anything could happen. I would also not use or have one lent to me either for the same reason as well! Certain things are just not borrowable material In my books. As for dogs, well that's another story, I would lend Zeiba out just to give me a break!! but then I think she would be back so quick as she would drive them batty Sorry for the OT, but I hope you get something sorted Bec, maybe you should just save for a 50d :p Oh was just kidding about the dog, as much as I'd love too, I don't think I could lol
tlc
glad im not the only one! Hey Bec I agree with RnB, but instead of a 50d, you could always save up for a Nikon.... Edited February 19, 2010 by tlc

becandcharch
Tlc wash your mouth out!!! I borrowed someones Nikon do to a macro shot for the Canon photo5 comp (they had a macro lens for the close up shot) and it was so different. I only had it for a few hours and everything was in the wrong place ;) I dropped my camera and my 50mm broke. I have been using the camera for over a week after this happened so I dont think its a related incident but who knows.. Lucky it was a cheapy. RottnBullies I'll take Zeiba! How much ya want for her? Kja no harm done. I was so peed off with the whole thing and felt a little like it was directed at me at the time but all forgotten now. Mr Murphy is a bastard. RJ thanks for the offer. It would be lovely to meet the Warrnambool dolers if I ever get that way. Anniek is the only doler I have met. Lucky Anniek Ruth only mentioned insurance to me after my 50mm broke but I havent done anything about it yet I would like to hear what insurance others have for their gear but might start a new thread. So.. something cool did happen today! I got this email - Dear Rebecca, I work for the advertising agency that looks after Canon. We are currently in the progress of developing a new campaign for EOS to launch in May of this year. As part of that campaign we would like to feature real images from the World of EOS (and associated competitions i.e Photo5) with the story of how and why that image was created. As part of this process we have chosen yours Photo5 image to potentially feature. If we use your image you will be remunerated and would ask for you to potentially appear in the ad as well. There are a few things we need from you for now to make it happen: 1) Can you please send us the highest resolution version of this shot that you have? Preferably in RAW format (unretouched) 2) Would you mind if our creative team gave you a call to chat about your photo and find out the story behind it? If so could you confirm the best number to call you on? 3) Can you confirm what camera your image was taken on? It was this pic! Woo hoo! I'll be so happy if they use it!!! huga
Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Do you shoot in RAW, Bec? Does that mean they want to edit it themselves?
tlc
Wow that is so awesome!! Congrats, I bet they will use it for sure. In regards to insurance, all my camera gear is covered in and away from the home and each piece of equipment camera body lense etc is all covered seperatley, so if all my gear got stolen and I had and exxy lense on my camera it would cover both and what ever else was in the camera bag as well. None of my gear is listed seperatley on my policy but it is all covered! we are with cgu.
becandcharch
Thanks guys! LITTLE bit exciting! Hmm.. i'll try not to get too excited in case they dont use it. So happy they are considering it though! I do shoot in Raw now but didnt when I took this pic. I will be interested to see why they want an untouched pic as the edited version is the way I wanted it. Maybe they just want to see what I did to it??? I'll ask them when I reply.

tlc
Hey I just had a thought, it said "you will be remunerated" maybe you might get a new camera out of it, how cool would that be!! Oh I also meant to ask you and Im just being nosey, so dont tell me if you dont want to. You said you had launched a new business, is it in photography or something else?? Or did I missunderstand and it wasnt your business you were refering to??
tlc
Do it Huga, I was like you too but once I started I haven't looked back, I used to worry about converting the files etc but with light room it is all done for you. Also if you import raw files into picassa they are automatically converted and you just have to save them as jpegs when you export them.
becandcharch
Yeah I doubt it would be a camera! Anything would be nice! Our new business is in the crazy world that is triathlon. Also putting together a cyling team and sponsoring some pro triathletes. We also have Australian distribution on some products which we werent expecting to happen straight away but is SO unreal. Working with lots of charities and also schools to help them get ahead in their sports. I could tell you so much more about it but I would be here all day! Very excting stuff Sorry I get carried away!!! Thanks for asking ;) Huga im loving your photos! Your better and braver already Thanks JS I saw your thread about starting up your own business. Good for you. Doing something you love isnt something a lot of people get to do.

anniek
Thats great Bec, I reckon you should tell Canon all about how your camera is fairly new and has broken and you are thinking about getting Nikon
Kirislin
Was that from the photo5 or something els Bec? If it was the photo5 it's good they went back through them and saw yours. There were so many entries, it's pretty cool yours got noticed. I hope you can tell them about your misfortune with the camera and maybe get a 5D out of it to compensate for the 40D. Now wouldn't that be nice.
tlc
Wow Bec, your business sounds great good luck with it!! JS, good luck with your too, it sounds great!! I also think it wouldn't hurt while you are talking to them to casually mention your misfortune with your 40d, cant hurt!! Oh Annie, now you have hurt my feelings!! sorry - just couldn't resist - friends again Sure why not.... ;)

I doubt they will give a toss about my poor broken 40d I looked at a 5D yesterday when I was asking about my camera issues. So pretty but so not an option right now.
