WreckitWhippet
don't have anything which qualifies now, but that's not to say that I won't in the future. I do how excitment! I will, I can bring out Sway. We can go Ch, Neuter Ch and then Veterans , that will fill in that year before veterans We're winding down and giving up the breeding and showing, as the last of the current dogs retire that will be it. It will give me something to do while the last of them title and retire
Yarrowfell
I have several eligble so will be entering. I wonder if I get a Neuter Ch on one of my Dual Ch dogs (assuming I neuter one of them) I can apply for a triple Champ???

twenty3
Oh I love this idea I love showing have a titled bitch that due to health reason had to desex. She loves the shows we still do desexed class when they are on few and far between tho. GREAT IDEA!!!!
Wajoma's Aussies
I hope the clubs all offer the class .... it'll be an excellent way to introduce new/pet owners to the fun of showing ... as well as giving an outlet for the puppers who LOVE to show, who've had to be desexed due to health reasons. Keshwar
Now all we need to do is to get the clubs to participate! My guess is that the clubs will only participate if there is enough interest. We recently stopped running neuter classes at the Hound club due to a lack of interest. We have a couple of beautiful sashes at home from shows that had neuter classes but received no entries. Aziah
Most pet puppies are sold with limited registration however that can be altered but I'd not be willing to alter it until I've had proof of that puppy being spayed/neutered and I felt it was worthy to be shown. Yarrowfell
I have just spoken the Administrator of the ACTCA and it is his opinion that these classes WILL NOT BE OPTIONAL in the ACT, clubs must hold these classes after 1st July 2010. WreckitWhippet
If it's a title then it needs to be mandatory that all shows offer the classes. ETA: Just saw the post above. Edited February 18, 2010 by SBT123
Sandra777
IMO there needs to be a change to the limit rego too (and not just because of this new award). Limit rego which allows showing but not breeding and limit rego which doesn't allow either would possibly help make the whole idea more appealing to breeders with "spare" show prospect puppies. RallyValley
That sounds good Sandra. My brother is getting a stafford bitch mid year and I think it would be fun to do neuter classes with her, but the chances of a breeder letting a stafford bitch go on open register to a relatively new dog owner aren't very likely. whippets
I think the neuter classes is a good thing. They have had these classes for cats for ages and it has worked well. I have held the belief for a long time that some of the BEST examples of a breed are desexed pets staying in peoples backyards. Be good to see them in the ring. -Megz-
If it's a title then it needs to be mandatory that all shows offer the classes.ETA: Just saw the post above. I hope not. That is 4 classes, 4 Ribbons extra per Group, and the 4 In Show ribbons - Our clubs whinge about the costs now. We don't get the entries to warrant all 4 classes being mandatory. I agree that making Class 18 - For neutered dogs over 6 months, compulsory *may* work but forcing all four classes on small clubs is a bit much. IMO there needs to be a change to the limit rego too (and not just because of this new award).Limit rego which allows showing but not breeding and limit rego which doesn't allow either would possibly help make the whole idea more appealing to breeders with "spare" show prospect puppies. Why? Sell the dog on the limited register, the owner desexes, provides proof and you sign the forms to make the dog Main Register and marked Neuter at the same time. Being on Main can still be limited ie. Dog not for Export etc. Limited for Showing but not Breeding is no Different to Main for a Neutered dog, they still can't breed and they can show. No change required.
Yarrowfell
Just received some information that it now looks like the classes will be optional for the time being. Hopefully we can get that changed to at least make class 18 required.

SpikesPuppy
Fantastic news This will definitely be a great way to get people into showing IMO, as well as keeping some outstanding animals out there!!! Will definitely consider putting nice pups of mine on Main Neuter (If they are nice enough of course!!) so that if the owners want to give showing a try, they can will just have to make sure if they are interested that they don't neuter early..... Will also be good IMO for breeders who rehome retired breeding/showing dogs, they get the security of knowing the dog is neutered but the new owner can learn the ropes with a trained dog I hope Class 18/18a become compulsory!!! BB- I do so hope Miss Will can strut her stuff
lappiemum
my understanding is that a neuture class has been around for a while, but I think I have only ever seen it once in a specialty show. If this one is to allow the accumulation of points, however, it may be in the interests of clubs to incorporate it and even promote it in the schedual. I'm sure you will get the enteries - showies just love a new competition!
SpikesPuppy
Some all breeds have the Neuter class, but at the moment, all you can get is Neuter in Group or Show... not really that exciting and often there are only a handful of dogs in each group etc. So it's been largely unsupported I believe. Hopefully the idea of a title will bring more dogs out though!!! We have Neuter at our breed specialty Usually a few entries, mostly retired showies.
