wuffles
LL you will be fine, if I can do it so can you Go the Aussies! Lottie is a gorgeous girl and I'm sure she will do you proud. Our next trial is on the 9th of April. I haven't had a chance to do much training lately but when I get the treats out she is super, super keen so I am not too worried... yet I will try get someone to video it this time... RallyValley
Yay LL Video is a must! I have entered Toby in his first CCD trial in June BUT... I am entered NFC and I am just going to do one exercise (either heelwork or recall) if he is not in a shut down mood and leave the ring and give him a massive reward (thinking Macca's soft serve with raw steak ). Maybe by next year wel will be ready to do all the exercises at once Edited March 31, 2011 by RallyValley
The Spotted Devil
Good luck and enjoy! On my first CCD trial the judge was great and I was a total wreck. After the first halt on the heeling pattern she said "Forward and for God's sake breathe" Priceless

After the first halt on the heeling pattern she said "Forward and for God's sake breathe" Priceless :D It is funny now but then....yish Weird thing is that Cindy only lost 1 pt in the SFE & 2 pts in recall. Pity about the heeling/handler! Ah well!

No they dont let you know. The only thing with Redcliffe is parking is at a premium so dont be late, also there arent that many entries in CCD and Novice so I've been told so it shouldnt be a late night for you.. As for nervous we are all like that for the first couple of decades
Nik
Hi . I'm also a long term reader/lurker and first time poster in this thread. We've started trialling (well, one trial last year and we scraped though with a pass- still don't know how we did that!) and I'm contemplating entering the Croydon trial again. Only problem is I'm not sure 100% that I can get babysitters for the day (OH often works Sundays). So, if I go ahead and enter, what's the protocol if I can't make it? Thanks

Do you know anybody else trialling that can babysit for you for 10 minutes? Do you have a friend who could be moral support for the morning and help you out? Good luck and as you have seen - this is the place to brag or bang your head on a brick wall depending on how you are going

Also my dog doesn't concentrate when they're around. She's spend her whiole time trying to get back to her "flock"! Hopefully my parents can help- they did last time. Mason_Gibbs
Hi, I have not posted much in training lately - we busy training for our club trial on the 17th and then we have our 2nd real trial on the 23rd( failed the first one as Mason decided to do his special trick of laying down in the sit stay - thanks again for that one Mason!!!) so we are hoping to pick up a pass on the 23rd and then we have another trial I think on the 30th and the 1 May There is a double header on the 30th but I think asking him to do morning and afternoon will just be way too much for him and will be a waste of time IMO. Any thoughts on this??? ETA we have been busy with our retrieving training too - busy concentrating on teaching him to hold - its pretty slow going and also frustrating in a way Edited April 2, 2011 by Mason2009
huski
I live about an hour outside of Brisbane (In a small town near Gatton), and my first trial is actually in Redcliffe - which is on the northside of Bris, hehe!! But hopefully there will be someone there to video me! I'd like to see how we do, and I *might* put it up, depending on how shocking we go . My aim will definitely be to get it on video though I don't you worry Beth there will definitely be someone there to video you

I want some more CDX passes though so I better send some obedience ones off I live about an hour outside of Brisbane (In a small town near Gatton), and my first trial is actually in Redcliffe - which is on the northside of Bris, hehe!!
huski
LOL RS!! Her leg is good, she's been back at training two weeks now However, with six weeks out for her injury she's going to take a little while to build fitness/stamina/focus again. She went almost two months with nothing - no walks, training, or even leaving the house so it will take a bit to build it back up. And we have a few things to work on anyway. So I guess that means I don't know we may even end up trialling in agility before we get back to obedience!

Ptolomy
I came home and watched my trial video last night - really happy with how my kids had gone. That was until I saw the video of Cider. Yes she was lovely, yes her attention was beautiful BUT I knew I had problems in the ring not while she was working but between exercises - she didn't want to hand touch, she wouldn't come close enough to be patted - so I ended up resorting to heeling between exercises. So tonight at training I taught her to hand touch. I rewarded her for being patted. I rewarded for me pushing her away and her coming back towards me - so it will be interesting to see how this affects her next trial outing. Stay tuned.......
