Flick_Mac
With both of them, but Louie is my focus.... I know Banjo could virtually do it with his eyes closed... I just have to get him revved up enough which is hard! Damn laid back Aussie... My main thing with Louie is probably weaning him off food. If he's working well he doesn't need them, but if he's not focussed then god help us! I'm also trying to figure out if I can bribe someone into working Banjo for me so I can work both of them! FranVT
Another dream night Except for an aggressive dog with a pathetic owner. Oh and the lady who kept screeching on that her dog was terrified all the time to mask the fact that it was in fact she who was terrified. The dog was fine Oh, and is "heel up" a kind of 'done' thing with certain breeds or something? One lady kept growling 'heel up' at her Dobermann ALL NIGHT and it was really grating on me for some reason. The fact that she was repeating it every four seconds really didn't help. But Luuka was awesome! More tomorrow, I'm exhausted
huski
I see people yelling "heel" at their dogs all the time... doesn't do anything to motivate the dog nor does it magically teach them what heel means Feel sad for the dog though This is like the rant I posted earlier in this thread... it is so hard to watch people doing the wrong thing, even after you've said something they are not interested in changing. Heel up is a weird command to give, you couldn't use it in the ring because it's more than one word. FlickMac, I don't personally wean my dog off the reward. I work on the time they can go maintaining drive without needing to be rewarded, and I keep them guessing as to when the reward is going to come. Ptolomy
I love nothing more than a clicker trained puppy trying to work out what you want. Armed with a clicker, a truck load of treats and a hula hoop in less than 3 minutes I had Soggybear going the length of the hallway to sit in the hula hoop. I only wish that I got it on video because it was priceless. Now if only teaching children was this much fun

huski
Huski - when is your next trial???? Ages away Not till the end of next month! Hopefully will give us lots of time to fix our down stays I do not want to go blowing anymore quallies (or first places!) at the last minute on the last bloody exercise ETA: BTW I would love to see a vid of you shaping with one of your furkids! You should do some with the new pup... I think Strauss has a future as a youtube super star Edited July 20, 2010 by huski
Tiggy
I get that if you fail stays you don't qualify but I'm confused can you still place?
Tiggy
I don't really do agility on Mondays with Toby because of him ever going to be learning contact equipment makes it hard to get much out of training. On Thursdays they usually have jumping runs up so I train then. Plus I have some plans for Monday nights I am not ready to reveal yet... just that I might have roped another DOLer in that may soon be joining us in the training talk thread. I'm intrigued about these secret Monday plans

Oh BTW Tiggy since we have been missing each other at training I will either catch up with you Thursday or if not I will upload the Rally stuff for you. I think we should have a WA DOLers 2010 AKC Agility Nationals DVD watching night when my DVD arrives.
huski
I get that if you fail stays you don't qualify but I'm confused can you still place? In QLD you can, they still award first, second and third place regardless if anyone quallied. If someone got a quallie even if it was a lower score than someone who didn't quallie, they would automatically place higher. We still placed third at our last trial (had we passed we would have placed first) because only one person got a quallie (they got first place automatically) and the person who came second failed an exercise that was worth a lot less than a down stay... I think it was the SFE. Edited July 20, 2010 by huski

leopuppy04
I have a thing for having same breed/different colour dogs I have my yellow and choc Labs, and my next pair I want a red merle and blue merle Aussie ;) Would get the next matching pair (separately of course!) in the next few years to add to my current pack if I could What about a tri and tan and white beagle pair? ;) Those come after the Aussies ;) Or when I find a millionaire husband that will let me quit work, we buy a yuuuuuuuuuuuge property, and I can have my farm of dogs I'll put my order in for one of those too please (the millionaire hubby ) I love nothing more than a clicker trained puppy trying to work out what you want. I only wish that I got it on video because it was priceless. Now if only teaching children was this much fun Ptolomy - wish I had the video on me when I put the disc down that I use for rear end awareness on the ground to explain how it works. Was about to put Z dog away (then 12wks) and bring out Kinta. Only as soon as the disc dropped, Z dog ran up to it, put her front feet on and started going round and round like a pro my friend and I stood their dumbfounded (she hadn't been trained to do this at all) and then I said to her "THATS what I use the disc for"
RallyValley
I am printing out the Rally signs and it has used almost the whole lot of the coloured ink! ;) Just a warning to anyone that feels like printing 50 A4 Rally signs it would probably work out cheaper to get it done at a professional printers. I still have another 7 signs to print!
Flick_Mac
Huski - that's a better way of putting what I was trying to get at! I need to work at more time in between the food reward... I do give them randomly at the moment which works really well if he's focussed! If he isn't then we kind of fall in a heap! ;) Is there a time limit on how long the CCD heeling pattern goes for? I'll have to work up to doing a couple of minutes at a time with no food. I'm pretty sure I can do 1.5 maybe 2 mins if we're working well. I'll have a rich husband too if someones handing them out! I need to teach both my boys hind end awareness - I think that might be tomorrow's task!

RallyValley
Are SR doing Rally classes? Not yet/maybe. I think they are doing some Rally stuff after 8pm on Mondays, but I think it will be to late for me to drive home if I start training at 8pm so I was just going to do some stuff by myself and anyone else who wants to join in starting at around 7pm on the bottom oval.
