bedazzledx2
Me too Tiggy For those who train agility and obedience do you find you train them pretty evenly or one more than the other, I tend to train obedience more, love them both but :D . bedazzledx2
Good girl Ness I gotta training talk brag :D . Caught up for an impromptu UD training session with Rivsky this evening - only decided on the spur of the moment. I wanted to do a seekback and directed jumping with Ness. Well we set the gear up and then spotted a huge pile of bread just near where the startpeg was. Knowing how foodie Ness is I thought it could pose a bit of an issue. As I sent her for her seekback she shot off towards where the bread was located at a million miles an hour and seriously thought about it but I interrupted her with a nope your working and she then went back to finding her seekback and absolutely nailed it and then nailed 2 directed jumps before being rewarded. Wahoo my Ness girl can work when there is food around :D .ETA. Tiggy I tend to get carried away and train agility if given half a chance but have been trying to be good and do more obedience training .

Mas1981
What is a NRM? How many steps can he do with full attention before he drops out? That is your mean. Build from there and yo yo for a bit to see how he copes. Only start on duration when you know he can hold focus and understands heel position. I wouldn't even use a NRM at this early stage...just realise he's not there yet and work on attention. I then stand still and tell him ' too bad' then he knows he has done something wrong, he usually then returns and sits in front of me until we start training something else, sometimes it doesnt work though and he carries on sniffing the floor, I then go up to him, give him a little poke and try and get him to look at me again. When is your next special group training lesson??? Not sure actually..... look Mason is not as bad as he was and he heels way better now than he did, I just need to work out how long I should be asking him to heel for etc.. Seita
Nice work Seita and Ella Have you entered another UD trial yet? Yep doing a double on the 3rd July and then another one 2 weeks after that. Then nothing for like 6 weeks due to the Brissy Royal being on and nothing else! (and she's due in season around then). I won't be surprised if we get a pass in one of the next 3 trials, she's working so well! :D

bedazzledx2
Non Reward Marker. Mas1981
So for now I just feed and reward with tug his attention while heeling. When he sort of 'tunes' out, do I just leave him to go and do his own thing or do I just quickly ask him to do something else, say for eg we are heeling he tunes out, do I maybe then call him and ask him for a drop or some spins etc? Interesting watching the first glove - from where the camera was you could see that she was never looking at glove 2. Could you tell from standing next to her which glove she was locked into? bedazzledx2
Try and get a reward in his face before he disengages. Start off with 2 steps...full attention...mark (I use a clicker) and reward. You can use food or toy so long as you mark it before producing the reward. Mix it up. My goal for the next puppy will be error-less learning with minimal to no NRM's. So for now I just feed and reward with tug his attention while heeling. Interesting watching the first glove - from where the camera was you could see that she was never looking at glove 2. Could you tell from standing next to her which glove she was locked into? I could tell she was looking at glove 1 and I think she briefly glanced at glove 2 so I sent her when I should have waited a bit longer till she locked onto glove 2. When I did it the second time I waited til she had actually locked onto glove 2 before sending her. I need to remember to wait a bit longer with my signal if that's what it's going to take to ensure she gets it!
Ptolomy
It's Cider's birthday today - hard to believe that the little bundle of fluff who chewed my garden hose into 1 inch pieces, would dig holes the size of craters and who could scream the place down where i dare take one of the other kids out training and not her, has actually made it to 1 - Happy Birthday Cider Bear ;) and what did she get - a pigs trotter and a new i-squeak
Tassie
;) Happy birthday little Cider. Good grief, that time has gone quickly!!! Here was me thinking you were still only a little baby dog (hence the comments about the 2x2 weaving - had no idea she was a grown-up baby now ) And a pig's trotter AND a new iSqueak - what more could a little girl want :p
