Yeah I always get suckered in by the free shipping page :o But I'm being STRONG!!! I do want a Thundershirt for Millie which is on free shipping laugh.gif But I think she'll be fine without it.

There are a few things that I want though that aren't on free shipping. If shipping was reasonable I'd pay it, but the problem is CR shipping is actually eek1.gif (unless on free shipping which is thumbsup1.gif)

Post op visit to the specialist this afternoon and the sling is off!!! Still have pretty limited range of movement so left signals are pretty manky but she recognized them. So first proper training session since beginning of September and my little pocket rocket worked the house down, Despite it being pretty warm out there. So very happy tonight

Woo Hoo terrific news thumbsup1.gif Quick rush out and enter a trial rofl1.gif

I returned home this arvo and just did 30 seconds in the hall with each of the kids, cos its raining outside, and I am sure if I had said fly to the moon they would have all given it a go. They were all like dogs with new batteries rofl1.gif It will be interesting to see what happens at the trial tomorrow night.

Welcome home! Night time trial, woohoo!! Looking forward to it, if the rain stays away!!

Your kids are always eager to work :D Ruby's been great fun lately, but we'll get in the ring tomorrow night and be brought back to earth laugh.gif Nothing like a trial and my nerves to make a happy dog in training turn into a dog who is off with the fairies in the ring! Can't wait til we start flogging UD (next week? :D) :happydance:

Glad to hear you're out of the sling kath and back into it!!!! When are you trialling next? :)

Hudson has been such a good boy, and I just love having him here! We were working on sit + down stays today. He will let me walk away approx 5m and will sit for 30 seconds before I call him, he is also starting to learn the sit at recall which is lovely! I never thought I would like obedience, but I am having fun teaching some basics.. I think we will be a year or so off actually trialing (if I have a go at all!).

We start our Basic Manners course on Tuesday :D This is the next step up from puppy preschool, and I am hoping it will help with Hudson and training under distraction. He is great at home, but bring in people or dogs! :p

Stays- How do you train your stays? For me stay means STAY. When training I say stay and that means you stay put, I dont care if the dog next to you is moving, there is food in front of you. Im calling your name, making a song and dance, stepping over you, throwing a toy or there are kids calling your name you STAY! He is pretty solid on his stays.

Recalls I always use the word wait- It means wait because there may be something coming and you will have to move. Ie- recall, change of position those sorts of excersizes will always have a wait command.

If I confuse the words and try to call him for a recall after saying stay he sits there looking confused and doesnt move.

Im loving the night time trialling too! I get my whole day to do my own thing then can go to the trial at night. This Saturday nights one is a local one :cheer::champagne: Means I can go to work in the morning, get my hair done after work and still rock up on time for the trial! Just going in for fun tomorrow night and boy I am excited!

I'm with spoiltlab on this one.

Stay means stay - move and you pay the consequences. Dont care what the provocation is. I use wait when there is something coming that I'm going to ask you to do like recall, CoP and very handy in training dumbbell with a retrieve mad dog.

 I use whatever I remember at the time - hmmm Kenz has "sit" means sit, "drop" means drop so I will use those when I leave her. But then if I have been training Ness I have been known to throw in a stay or a wait with Kenz .

So does everybody have a release word then?

Yes but I am norty :o In obedience training or when let off leash it means relax (and go piss on a tree in Zig's case and hence why it is never used in the ring ;) ), in agility it means release from the start line like a rocket and in retrieving it means GO GET THAT BIRDIE YOU MARKED!

Somehow they manage to work it out

Release word from a stay Ptolomy?? Do you mean a release to a reward or a release to you? Any command is effectively a release from position to comply with that command but yep we also have a release to her reward :D.

 grumpette I feel for you after having had a dog break 2 sit stays both on good scores. I am just so grateful the stay gods were looking out for me the day she was on her best 196 score. I would have been devastated if she had gone down like she did the following day :o.
