Should be at the pine rivers trial on 29th. Arm will still be in a sling but OH will drive me.

The arm is a work related rotator cuff issue. Been on the go for over 12 months. Had shoulder surgery Tuesday last week and I'll be in a sling for at least a month with reduced arm movement for up to 6 months. Sucks big time

Mum fell over, dislocated and broke her shoulder. She also tore the tendon - so had a rotator cuff repair as part of the op. 6 weeks in a sling - so she comes out tomorrow and yep 6-9 months for full range of moment/recovery - so I know what you are going through.

Will see you at Pine Rivers thumbsup1.gif

Shoulder injuries suck bigtime - regardless of species. Hmmm to keep this back on being training related - how hard can it be to teach a bloody BC to sit on a square of carpet :mad. Its so not happening for us.

No video hahaha - me video a session that could be novel. Will try another one when it cools a little and set up the video camera. All the contact I am getting is totally incidental and the last session all I got was her using it as a pivot point (you know like the phone book trick only on a flat surface). Although that beats the laying down she was throwing at me or trying to bring it to me. Hmmm so plan B which was to go back to something I have taught her to sit on previously resulted in her offering 2o2o on the object .

:cheer: we accomplished Malika to heel this morning :cheer: after 3 hrs of walking doing a Timeline Festival Flyers letter drop

She was a puller, now she is a happy young lady to walk beside me :cheer:

Now that prob is fixed, we can work on her commands to fine tune them.

CCD Trials here we come :cooldance: :cooldance:

Ness don't wait so long....slow it all down. Try clicking while she is on her way...then delay the click until one paw touches it...then delay until she turns...then cue 'sit' click when she sits and throw food away so she has to get up and get it...then repeat.

Okay severe boredom/frustration is the mother of invention...

Left arm in a sling and therefore not moveable, dog going more than a little stir crazy from lack (read almost 5 weeks thanks to her being in kennels whilst I was away on holidays as well) of work what to do????

Remember that heeling needs some work thanks to concentrating on UD exercises, we can do that without the left arm, add a frisbee as reward and in one session of ten minutes those right about turns that have gotten embarassingly sloppy :o became magic. Add some scent work and presto one dog now stretched flat out on the tiles relaxed. :dancingelephant:

Goodonya Kathq - you could probably add to that dumbbell, COP, sending to the box gees - not much you can't do really  oh and stays!!! Keep up the good work ;)

I am on holidays - staying in doggie heaven with access to a dam  I noticed today when I took Moo and Moet swimming that Scoota doesn't drop the dummy and shake when he comes out of the water, but rather comes straight up the bank and brings it to me. Now if I could bottle this and sell it to the retrieving people I could make a fortune

I have also started some basic obedience with a 12 month old toller. show girl. It will be interesting to see what we can achieve in 10 days.

Yes please, I am first in line to buy!!! rofl1.gif

Sitting on mat update - took the old girl outside and was having a session with her and didn't realize Kenz was inside watching through the window.

Opened the backdoor and let Kenz out and she raced out to the mat and sat - JACKPOT - problem sorted.

But we have another problem - it appears that my barking issue that I thought was otherwise limited to DWD might be rearing its ugly head as far as sendaways go. The second time I attempted one a little later in the evening it was accompanied by a "woof" as she took off. URGH :mad.

Hmmm... a glass of wine solves lots of problems!!!! ;)

LOL Bedazzled - I will drink to that.

I have to say barking is one problem you don;t want rearing its ugly head in obedience as once ingrained - it is very hard to get rid of and I can think of a zillion other ways to lose 10 points!

Doing some dumbbell work last night, it just comes so much more naturally to Zora, I swear she is almost at the same level as Toby who has been doing it for 6 months!

Any advice for down stays? Toby can do long sit and stand stays without fidgeting but as soon as he is in a down he fidgets, pops up, comes over to say hi. :o

Hmmm ok just went out and did 4 cones sendaways for her breakie - No barking - phewww but she also nailed it on all 4 times (did 2 then put her away and got Ness out and then did another 2). So I think we are pretty safe to just not reward any attempt that does involve barking as she does know what I want.

I also broke out the video camera but note to self don't line up video camera directly behind because then all you end up with is lovely video of my backside .

'Tis fun with a natural retriever isn't it :D

I teach down stays using the principles of the steady feet game - very handy trick!!!
