RubyStar
Absolutely stunning! :D I'd love to see Scoota's UDX round.... never get a chance to really sit and watch UDX, or UD for that matter. Always too stressed with my own dogs to concentrate on other rings Edit: ok I just saw it is posted in the UDX thread, off to go watch it! murve
This might sound silly & I might be having a a bit of a gripe here, I just found out that the CCD dog winner is Not required to return he next day for BEST in TRIAL at the Melb Royal I have looked at the Dog Shedule & it dose state ( I did a copy/paste) BEST IN TRIAL Judging of Best Exhibit in Obedience Trial will be held on Saturday 1 October 2011. All Obedience Class winners to return on that day for presentations and judging of Best in Trial. I think if CCD Dog winners is not required they should Stipulate it shouldnt they ????? :( Edited September 26, 2011 by murve
Ptolomy
Murve the CCD dog who won at our States Champs (which was also a toller ) also didn't get to compete in winner of winners. The reason being is that the two exercises for WOW are heel free and recall and a CCD dog heels on lead, so it isn't a fair test for them. But as you said it should have said it in the schedule. Thank you Ptolomy for the clarifying that :D, I now understand it why CCD's are excluded, I was getting a little confused as I was told yes we do go back & then no we are not needed. I did email the Sec of the dog sec of the Royal, her reply was just CCD dog are not needed for Best in Trial, no explanation to why. So thank you again for the Clarification :D

The Spotted Devil
Just lovely Ptolomy - love the little sneeze at the end I noticed that Em has started doing that during heel work - almost like "c'mon, where's my stinking reward????? That was brilliant!!!"
pie
I notice quite a few dogs seem to sneeze during heelwork - especially Tollers I saw Zippa doing it too. I think it's cute- I wonder why they do it
Nik
Annie sneezes when she smiles at me. Do tollers grin at all?
RubyStar
Millie must be watching the Tollers too much, she tends to sneeze when we heel as well, but haven't noticed it during any other exercise Kinda wish Ruby would watch the Tollers heel too and learn something ;)
Ptolomy
I tried to stop the sneezing with mt first toller, Blaize, but it was a lost cause, so in the end I taught her to sneeze and stay in heel position. I am not sure if the sneezing is related to excitement, or how the head is held in heel position.. Bean's sneezing is allergy related!
The Spotted Devil
I imagine sneezing could be a displacement behaviour - maybe a combination of excitement, expectations, reinforcement schedule, frustration??? With Em I had never observed it before I did an extended heel pattern a few weeks back as I have been doing a lot of turns, positions etc in tiny increments. Ptolomy
This is what you call.......a work in progress. Its Strauss's first trial on Saturday night, where he had no warm up - straight out of the car and into the ring. Full marks to him for not taking his eyes off me , but you can really see the holes in our training (READ SLOW PACE), oh and the scratch to begin with... http://www.youtube.com/watch\?v=RijL5Cphdu4

I get the sneeze mostly in training only and as soon as we take off from the start peg. No idea about that one
Inevitablue
My theory is it's because they are looking up, either into the sun or bright night time lights. Try it, look at the ground then look up to the bright sky with the same enthusiasm as an attentive dog does. Always makes me sneeze! Hmmmmm maybe, maybe not

Mason_Gibbs
Question for the guru's, I am training my young puppy to do a few things, he is very sweet and eager but ( to me ) seems to catch on to things a bit slower than the older dog. Is it just because he is a pup and is learning or will he always take longer?? He can do sit with no lure, but I need a piece of food in my hand to get him to fold back into the drop. Trying to teach him to stand for shows and man is it hard he just wants to sit and stare at me ! I have not rewarded him for this he just copies the older one! Ptolomy
Strauss is 17 months old, which is about the age my other kids have started trailing, but they have all been more advanced or ready than he is. Funny - he will probably turn out to be my ideal trialing dog, but at the moment its a long slow work in progress. I find the girls are much more switched on and learn much quicker. My mum loves him to bit - hes her favourite
