Warning to dog owners!

New garden pots for growing herbs can be very dangerous to dogs and make them fearful of the back yard!

These pots may jump and attack at any moment

Cindy is now happy to go around the yard.

The scary pots might make good figure 8 posts and allow you to do lots of rewarding around them?????

you always think outside the square :lollipop: great stuff !

My kids always say I think outside the square but I don't think they see it as a +

Just saved yourself a few hundred.

Can someone tell me, with the stand in obedience does it have to be all square, as in, front feet in line, back feet in line? Trixie seems to keep one of her front feet just in front of the other and I'm going to work on fixing it but just wondering if it is points off or not?

Cheers

I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter as long as they don't move their feet. Ava stands with one foot out the front as well.

No, they don't have to stand square, however if they do they are going to feel more stable for the exam which means you won't lose points for the fact that her legs aren't square, but you may lose points if she moves a foot to balance herself. But if it's only off by a tiny bit then she should be okay.

Ask Bedazzled about this :) :D

I agree with Terranik - if the dog is standing square they are less likely to move. Happy to have a looksie at an agility trial to see if we can fix it before it becomes ingrained.

Okay I'll try and get her standing more square for stability purposes, cheers

ETA: Might take you up on that one Ptolomy, are you going to be there on Sunday?

ETA2: Have to admit I'm really starting to enjoy this obedience thing!

Oh yeah of course

I was thinking of leaving the stand for a bit because since I taught her to do it she is hardly auto-sitting any more - should I re-fix that before I carry on with the stand do you think?

In Sheila Booth's book she says to avoid losing the sit teach the kick back stand so they're doing two sits for one stand eg sit-stand-sit. I didn't properly teach Banjo the stand and now we're both confused ;) , that's something I'd like help with when I start training at K9 :( .

Great, I've broken her already ;) I don't think she's coordinated enough to do a kick back stand :(

I started teaching Banjo the kick back stand on my bench out the back, he's starting to get it, it's one position I feel really awkward training, I think I'll leave it until I can get some help so I don't confuse him anymore :o .

Don't worry I broke Banjo's drop, re-trained it and now he has a great drop, it's lucky dogs are smart enough to put up with us  .
