RubyStar
Since when do you need a SFE in agility It's a new rule, when the dog is on a table the judge does a SFE Oh I like that answer better, so much better than mine I might need to avoid Agility a bit longer if that's the case, and stick with Jumping where there is no table Edited August 31, 2010 by RubyStar

RallyValley
Hmmm so when did the dumbells come into agility then Amypie I think SOMEONE IS SNEAKY OBIDIENCE TRAINING!!!
pie
I think a Lab would be better! It's going to be a battle to try and get Trixie to do a SFE, if she doesn't know the person then she's suspicious of them and if she does know the person then she wants to jump all over them Hmmm so when did the dumbells come into agility then Amypie I think SOMEONE IS SNEAKY OBIDIENCE TRAINING!!! I really did buy that to teach her the dumbell retrieve because I thought it would be something to wear her brain out and stop her being naughty (didn't work, I lost a jogger yesterday, RIP Jogger )
RubyStar
Sounds like someone still needs to be puppyproofing the house before she leaves for work! RIP sneaker.
pie
I smacked myself for leaving it on the floor, I usually put them out of the way!
RallyValley
Yay Amy!! I will gladly be the SFE person for you and RS on Thursday! Then I will get all the tips of how to teach it and Lincolns SFE will be awsome!! Not yay about the sneaker. Lincoln tends to go for stilettos and chewed up a pair that cost $120 and I had worn once. ness
you don't teach a DB retrieve you get DB hike it to the far end of the oval send dog - dog races out gets it comes back and presents and waits to repeat the game - ooops bloody BCs . Tassie
and are you West Aussies planning on sharing the SFE secret with your admirers down under down under????? Although I think Rory might almost be starting to get it - with me anyway. Haven't tried it with someone else really. yet.
RubyStar
I'm just so "gosh darn proud" of Millie and her dumbell retrieve. Needs some work to get her to present a little closer, but I couldn't be more chuffed of this dog who didn't even want to put her mouth around it when we started. Toss it in play and she'd look at you blankly. Now she's bringing it back over the solid jump. I know it isn't much but I am still very proud of her
ness
Go Millie. Know what its like RubyStar Ness wouldn't have a bar of the DB and yet managed to get there in the end .
Tiggy
I've not really trained a SFE - I just know it's going to be a disaster and if the person dares talk to Sophie they'll set her off roo-rooing and she won't shut up .
pie
I tried to explain to her that no sneakers = no training/walks but she didn't get that logic Yes Millie loves the dumbell now doesn't she, to the point where once when she wast tethered she managed to steal it when you weren't looking and have a good chew on it, I confiscated it

Need to proof dumbell in longer grass near pee posts! Ya know, just in case there is one in the ring Edited August 31, 2010 by RubyStar

RubyStar
It might not be a bright spark SFE idea for other dogs, but all I can say is it is currently working for wigglebum Ruby, but we still have a long way to go. In combination with steady feet game, just ask someone to place their hands on the dog. Click straight away for them not moving and treat. If they move after the click, which they probably will, don't fret, the click usually ends the behaviour anyway. Repeat, but increase the time the person just places their hands on them. I am finding Ruby is not even looking at the person touching her, she is too busy staring at me waiting for that click! Progress to person examining. It just seems to be working for us so far in training But I do need to be careful about her moving afterwards as she might start doing so in trials. I'll see how this progresses and report back!! The above courtesy of Ptolomy... hope she doesn't mind me sharing!
