huski Posted March 8, 2010 Share Posted March 8, 2010 (edited) Me too Nik, it was so awful hearing her crying and yelping when he was attacking her, she was so scared it was terrible Lucky BC4ME was quick to act (when the owner wasn't!) and was able to grab him. Daisy is the sweetest dog, not timid or fearful in any way so I really hope it doesn't impact on her confidence. The owners will hopefully come back next week and I will refer them to a good behaviourist here who works with a lot of DA dogs. I know what it's like to have a DA dog and it is awful, but can be so much easier with the right guidance. ETA: Thanks Tiggy. My poor baby. The dog that attacked her ran over to two dogs on a tie out first and wasn't aggressive towards them at all, so when he ran towards Daisy I thought I'd grab him to stop him running off any further, then he ripped into her I don't know if it was because the other two dogs were bigger than he was and Daisy was smaller. If I had any inclination he was aggro I would have tried to body block him from getting near Daisy instead of trying to grab him There were kids there who saw it and they started crying! Mas1981 Posted March 8, 2010 Share Posted March 8, 2010 Poor Daisy was attacked at obedience club tonight A newbie dog got off leash and ripped into her. The owner froze and went and hid in the club house while it was happening. The dog had no collar on (slipped it) so it was hard to grab it. Luckily Daisy is physically ok. I really hope this doesn't impact on her easiness around other dogs, she is so tolerant and generally nonplussed with other dogs, I would hate for her to lose that. I feel so upset, after what happened to Micha I have tried so hard to make sure nothing like that ever happens to Daisy and this is the first time she's ever experienced a dog attacking her How awful! I experienced the same thing, my lab was attacked by a dog and the owner was too scared to grab it, my dog was still on lead and he managed to slip his collar and outrun the attacking dog until I could call him through some gates and shut the aggressive dog out. huski Posted March 8, 2010 Share Posted March 8, 2010 She seemed fine with other dogs tonight that I let her greet etc, we don't tend to socialise with or play with other dogs at dog school and Daisy is a bit disinterested in other dogs generally. Then when I am in we can pretend that Lincoln is a lost puppy... and you yell really loudly... but no one can know hes mine or they will look at me in the ring... so maybe Rubystar can put some lab hair in a bag and we can make Lincoln a lab coat....... If so I think I might join to get some practice with the tyre, collapsed tunnel and longer sequences. That will cause her to go into meltdown and elicit the most ear piercing scream you have ever heard - all attention is guaranteed to be turned from any ring towards my car where everybody will want to know who is murdering the sweet little child.
