Doesn't matter if it is still registered in SA or not. It would be classed as a new rego in NSW so therefore it will need a blueslip as well as being put over a weightbridge as NSW rego is determined by weight of trailer.

When you get it weighted take everything off it you canlike spare wheel etc. If it comes in under 400 KGs it wont need a yearly inspection and is cheaper to register.

Our old trailer was 350 kg and it only cost about $50 per year and no yearly inspection. but the current trailer is over so it costs about $150.00 and has to be inspected every year which is an extra $25 or so.

yeah, hasn't bee used since i moved to NSW.

Just curious do you still have an address in SA? Or perhaps someone elses address? I used to have a caravan registered to a relatives address in SA as the rego on the van was cheaper there than NSW. The relative just sent the renewals up and I went to the Post Office and paid it. Altough I'm not suggesting you do this as that wouldn't be right.

If it's going to pass, then I don't see what the issue is, you go and put it over the pits, get it certified as road worthy and then go and register it. There is no way around it, as you will need a set of NSW plates to go on it.

Our dog trailer has to be inspected every year and given that it has the most precious cargo of all in it, then it's probably a good thing.

OT - Interesting to see the price variations on rego for trailers. I know in NSW even a 6 x 4 box trailer needs rego, unlike in Victoria - no reg needed as long as it does not exceed the maximum length for no rego.

Doesn't everything cost a heap more in NSW???? :)

Well another example is my caravan, that I no longer have, would cost $153.00 per year plus a yearly inspection of about $25. plus the hassle of getting it out and taking it to be inspected then putting it back in the yard. Itself a full day job. Plus gas inspection every 10 years (although I can understand the reasoning behind that). Also In NSW it could only be done for 12 months. In SA I could do 3,6,9 or 12 months rego and the last rego (last year) was $52.00.

To do a first rego in NSW there is the Blue slip, and weigh bridge ticket. In SA I just went to the motor registry down there and filled out the paperwork. The van was still in the caravan park we were staying in. I only took it down to SA in case it had to be checked. Didn't even check the gas compliance.

I wonder about SA when my uncle can go and get a truck registered without it being checked its safe. My bus on the other hand (rego in NSW) gets a real going over every year, and really I am glad it does.

Must admit though its the paying out the money part I hate.

I suppose when travelling you just never really know if the car coming towards you is safe or not.
