The big ad has been published in the Cessnock Advertiser today (page 3 if you can get a copy). Here it is:

Similarly the newspaper has written up a very favourable article for us on page 5. Here it is:

Hopefully we'll get a good response by locals. And, it goes without saying, if you haven't signed the petition yet, please do so by following this link: http://www.gopetition.com.au/petitions/ces...imal-pound.html

Some good news about the petition before it's even been handed into Council. Last Wednesday night the council voted to open the pound for significantly longer hours. I don't know exactly when this change will take place, but when it does the pound will now be open for 5 hours each day Monday - Friday & 3 hours on Saturday. That's a massive improvement on the current arrangement as it means the place will be open for 28 hours instead of the current four hours.

But there's still other vital points. Council seems adamant that there won't be a volunteer program, whilst they're saying little about the other issues at the moment. So, in these other important aspects, the petition is still vital. So if you haven't signed it already, please do so here: http://www.gopetition.com.au/petitions/ces...imal-pound.html And don't forget to tell everyone you know :o

Thats a good start DMA

It certainly is. And I haven't mentioned it in this thread yet, but the council will be employing two more staff members. One will be an extra full-time ranger, whilst a new position will be created known as the pound "Co-ordinator". Hopefully that'll all mean that there are more hands, who can attend to the needs of the impounded animals, as against the current situation.

Great news DMA- is a good start

I looked at the meeting agenda and minutes on Cessnock council public website.

Interesting and encouraging reading

Great to see they are taking note and trying to do something.

Yeah it is very good news. Hopefully there's more coming.

And here's the link to the 3 March meeting agenda where the report information is should anyone else want to read it: http://www.cessnock.nsw.gov.au/resources/f...3032010_AGN.pdf
