Prydenjoy
I just rang a trial secretary for an obedience trial I'm entering Berri in. It will be our first trial and I've no idea of what goes on in a trial etc. The lady said I must read the Dogs NSW Obedience Trial Rules Handbook, is there an online PDF of this or anything? ~*Shell*~
From the ANKC: http://www.ankc.org.au/media/scripts/doc_d...ad.aspx?did=201 Edited to take out the Dogs West link - the ANKC is probably the better resource! Prydenjoy
Thanks, I'll read it now - Hope it runs through what is expected from each level because I have no idea even what he needs to do! He's entered in CCD. ETA Will the rules be the same in NSW? Edited February 10, 2010 by Jeanne
gundoglover
There is a pdf for Obedience on the ANKC website under Rules: www.ankc.org.au/Rules.aspx These apply in all states and territories.

~*Shell*~
ETA Will the rules be the same in NSW? The ANKC has rules which the state controlling bodies abide by - the rules should be the same in all states but different states have tendencies to mark differently I'm told. If you want a printed copy, call dogsNSW and they'll be able to send you out one.
Prydenjoy
Hmm... Not sure if that is what the lady is talking about. She said it outlined the ettiquete eg you aren't allowed to touch your dog in the ring, no treats of physical corrections etc.
gundoglover
Etiquette is in the section titled " Exhibitors and Handlers"
Prydenjoy
Sorry gundoglover and pip, didn't see your replies when I did that second post. Thanks heaps, I'll check it out tonight!
gundoglover
Good luck. Let the steward & the judge know that you are new to trialling. Most will be helpful & explain things as you go.
Prydenjoy
Thanks heaps, hope it isn't like my first time back in the show ring... I was standing at the back of the line and heard the steward calling my number and went running through everyone knocking some poor exhibitors sunglasses off her head as I went, gasping "it's our first time" as I entered the ring, only to have little Mango sit down and refuse to budge!! I think that stubborn little puppy made her mark on the judge at least, when she finally did walk for her class and went in for the group the judge shook my hand and said "gone from not walking to a star in one day" as she gave us baby in group, I hope Berri can have the same success! The judge remembered little Mango and asked me each day of the rest of the show "how is little Mango today?", I'm still so proud
