perrin
Georgie just had a trip to the vet after consuming a large number of apples that had fallen down off the apple trees in the wind. Normally i do pick them up when i see them but we have been having pretty severe winds on and off the last couple of days which is really contributing to them dropping. Luckily i was home and noticed that she wasn't well pretty much straight away and she will be fine. She is pretty sore in the gut but is at home snoozing and is on medication to hopefully settle her tummy down. All those fermenting apples. Georgies symptoms were fairly mild but consisted of her trying to vomit and gagging, panting, itching and runny poo and also she was quite listless, walking around with her head down. At first i put it down to the heat but after an hour under the aircon with no change it was a quick call and off to the vet. Dogs. Worse than children. helen
That is a bummer. Is she a small dog? I have apples out at the moment, I have even been known to pick some apples off the tree and leave them on the ground for the dogs to munch on during the day, maybe will have to ration a bit
Pointees
Oh! Your poor dog! My dogs pick fruit off the trees. I have no way of stopping it unless they are supervised, but I can work anywhere from 2 hours to 7 hours a day.. Tomorrow I'm at work for 13, although am only working for 11 and a half... perrin
She's a dalmatian I think most dogs don't have a problem though have heard that the seeds can be poisonous. It was the amount she ate that i think was the problem. Going by the bits of half chewed up apple that i found when we got back from the clinic she had a good go at them. They definitely weren't sitting well in her tummy. She's feeling much better now. Sucking up all the sympathy whilst she can.
