Transfer Help - Nsw

I had this idea in my head that you couldn't register puppies from a bitch for 6 months after the transfer of the bitch to a new owner. But now I've checked the NSW regs, I can't find anything.

Someone has transferred a bitch to me for a litter. The date of effect is 19 Jan 10. She has not been mated yet. Is there a period of time that has to elapse now before I can arrange the mating? If you can point me to the relevant reg I'd be grateful.

I don't know about NSW but I have literally just registered Bad Alice and transferred her mother's lease at the same time (and backdated the lease transfer as well).

And my 2005 litter were born here in Tasmania after the bitch was mated in Qld and transferred to me at the same time.

I think you'll probably find that the ruling that says something about a bitch being in the ownership of the "breeder" at the time of the birth of the litter covers the question. As long as the bitch is registered in your name at the time of the birth of the puppies, it doesn't matter how far in advance the transfer is done.

In Vic, in the past, you transferred mum to your name for a period of 3 months I think. Had to be in breeders name at birth.

Have to see what the current scene is.

When did that ruling come in BB?

A few years ago now, I mated a bitch to my stud dog and then leased her back to her breeder in whelp and as far as I can recall she had no problems registering the litter in her name.

I'm sure I read just the other day in one of the NSW gazettes that a bitch cannot be transferred to a new owner once she has been mated.

I don't believe there's a period of 'grace' after transferring where you can't mate her.

Found it but it was on the Dogsecom site and perhaps it only applies to people wishing to register their litter online?

The following criteria will help you determine if you can use the Dogs NSW Online Registration Service for your litter:

7. There can be no ownership changes on the sire or dam from the date of mating through the date of birth.

Perhaps I was not clear. :whisper: The lease was for three months but had to be done before whelping. So as soon as pregnancy confirmed you leased back and at 3 months automatically returned to owner.

ETA. There wasa cost to lease back and new papers issued. No cosrt the other way and new papers issued.

Its 12 years since I did it so cannot recall the details. After that we just left the girls in my name as easier.
