biker girl Posted February 7, 2010 Share Posted February 7, 2010 This weekend here in NW Tassie, Ulverstone KC had their annual double show on the banks of the Leven River. Beautiful weather (about 23 & sunny both days) lovely judges, two ladies from NZ, gorgeous dogs........congratulations to those who did well whether in their breed, group or in show However, as with most dog shows there is always one or two indivduals who have to bring down others around them :D :p One of our youngest members (who is all of 13) was going around Saturday selling raffle tickets and as this is only his second time at doing this & shy too, was not feeling the most confident at approaching strangers ;) Gets told by some exhibitors to "rack off & go sell his tickets else where & leave them alone" What the #*#* ...........his is a kid for goodness sake, if you don't want a raffle ticket don't buy one but don't tell a kid to "rack off" So much for encouraging our future showers/breeders & general dog lovers Vent over Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Its no excuse but he will meet many rude people & school will also be a place of rude/bad behaviour & kids with bad manners. A good tool is to learn from these experiences that will make him a better person. Club also did good by sending an adult the next day. Yes they shouldnt have to but raffle selling is often greeted with the word no.It really is a horrid job,why do you thinks the adults often offload it to the kids ;) I remember being sent around to sell raffle tickets & most where great.polite a small handful rude but in the end the good outweighed the bad & i couldnt dwell on the bad side. Whatever happened to "treat others how you would want to be treated" or in this case how you'd want your children to be treated. Don't want a ticket then how hard is it to say, no thanks mate instead of making him feel like dirt? I'm sorry but what gives people the right to take their rubbish out on anyone else? jacobite Posted February 8, 2010 Share Posted February 8, 2010 I have to agree with most people here, for heavens sake whatever your problems on the day no one should abuse a child selling raffle tickets. Even if you are approached at the wrong moment, grooming you dog or waiting to go into the rinig, all you have to say is not now mate come back later. Surely most people realise that the money raised from raffles is what keeps most shows going. The lack of manners of some people today trylu appals me. SpikesPuppy Posted February 8, 2010 Share Posted February 8, 2010 Although there are always going to be rude people in the world and you have to learn to deal with them- a well-mannered child selling raffle tickets to FUNDRAISE FOR THE CLUB THAT IS HOSTING YOUR GODDAM SHOW does not deserve that kind of abuse- nor does an adult for that matter. Disgusting behaviour. It takes 2 seconds to say "No thanks". We often have the CFA selling tickets at our shows, not being dog people they sometimes approach at an inappropriate time but I always simle and say "no, thanks" or "Come back after I've been in the ring and I'll grab some" ALWAYS with a smile no matter what's going on.
