Training/trial Dog Containment

I don't really trust the soft crates with strong breeds. I might get two smaller crates to put them in.

- with good reason Tiggy. Rory can tell you that boy Border Collies can eat their way out of soft crates - he can just demolish the mesh on the door and/or windows - but only when mum is doing agility with her other dog .

I have 2 metal crates set up in the car, so if I can park close enough and the weather is OK, dogs can stay there. Otherwise I take soft crates - and if it's for agility, just get Rory's collapsible wire crate out of the car to put in the set up. Or use the show trolley. (Still need a babysitter for when I'm actually running Kirra, so he doesn't hurt his teeth :D - will stress even if the crate is covered right up.)

BTW, I got my bigger metal collapsible - 2 doors - from Deals Direct - good service.

What are you planning on doing for the agility Nationals?, although I guess you will be able to park close to where you will be running and keep Rory in the car?

Hadn't really thought that far. It's getting closer, isn't it. It will be really nice if the car can be within reasonable distance, then he can pop back in there at least while I'm running Kirra. Our first trial for the year is on Saturday, so it will be interesting to see how he goes - the last one was 2 months ago.

Of course, he can go and be looked after by Nanna Robyn - oh no, wait, she's going to be runnning multiple dogs, isn't she .

I've got a soft crate which I sometimes use, it depends on the grounds, eg do you have to walk a long way from the car or can you sit near the car.

Sometimes I prefer to tie her up, because if I make her too comfortable she gets too laid back and isn't as keen to work with me.

I leave her in the back of the car when it is cold and wet, but really she is better right out of the car, which is like her comfort zone and as I said before

can make her lazy/laid back.
