Ausvarg FL
Just wondering if anyone has ever had a successful litter after treating their bitch for pyometra? She was treated with Alazin and antibiotics. She didn't get septic or have a high temp. I just noticed that the discharge had changed at the end of her season. It also was open pyo so not nearly as bad as closed. What are your thoughts? Cassie
Aziah
I know of several cases though none are personal - all the bitches I know that were bred after pyo were put on antibiotics from the moment they came into season until they whelped. oakway
Sorry, I thought Alazin was used to terminate a pegnacy. I thought pyo bitches were treated with Prostaglandin.

Alazin is also used now as it is much easier on the bitches. She was given 3 shots. day 1-2 and 8.

Bilbo Baggins
I went to a Repo seminar year before last. It was suggested there to breed on next season. Can not remember the antibiotic though. Found the notes the other day, will try to relocate.
SnoFyre
Another question on this subject. Where there has been a successful litter after Pyometra, Have any of the females from the resulting litter had Pyo??
BOSSFACE
Our girl Eigenschaft Nordic Sky was treated for pyometra the same way that your girl was........she was a very sick girl and was in hospital for several days...we assumed that we would need to spey to save her but our vet said he thought that he could successfully treat her without desexing and he was right. We tried unsuccessfully to mate her at least twice after that and have finally gone down the Frozen Puppies track with her. We now have a very expensive litter of three babies (born via c-section) but are really happy as we had gotten to the point where we didn't think she would have any. BOSSFACE
Bilbo....our vet, at the time of treating her, also advised us that we should try to get her pregnant on her next season....that it would be our best chance. We did place her on antibiotics during that next season but couldn't get a mating with our boy (nothing to do with the pyo). She wasn't put on antibiotics during the season in which she was surgically AI'd however.
