Poor Old Misty

Just home from vets & am after some feedback...............

At the moment she has in the morning:

Fortekor

Vetmedin

Frudix

Rimadyl

Tramal

At night she has:

Vetmedin

Frudix

Tramal

Fitergol

Has anyone had any success with the "Fitergol", seems she either has a brain tumor or has had a stroke, she had a episode of "Canine Geriatric Vestibluar" quiet a few months ago, but recovered very well from it.

I really didn't expect her to come home tonight, so we will cherish everyday from now on, she sure is keeping me broke, but I would do anything to make her last days/months/years comfortable for her.

Just asking as you said = but I would do anything to make her last days/months/years comfortable for her.

Are you sure you are doing this for the dog or for yourself.

I can not do that to any of my dogs. That's just me. If you are happy and the dog is happy so

be it.

I kept one alive on pills for years and I will never do it again. I only did it because I thought the dog world would point fingers at me. Well you can point all the fingers you want me I will never do it again. I love them to much to ever put another through that.

I asked myself the same question, but 2 vets assured me it was NOT time yet, as she seems happy & is still enjoying her food.

I think it is a case by case situation, You did what you thought was right, I am doing what I think is right.

Silverblue we can only do what we all believe is the right thing at the time.

Good Luck with your Misty.

Silverblue I trialled Fitergol a number of years ago for a geriatric Golden who was going a bit senile. It didn't do a lot for her though and we ended up trying Clomicalm which really helped.

Good on you for doing the best by your girl! We discharged a little dog from hospital just yesterday that's now taking 6 different medications for his heart. When he first came in, he could barely walk and he had one of the worst ECG's I've ever seen. His heart could (and probably should have!) stopped at any second. 2 days in hospital and a new drug later, his owners couldn't believe that change in him; he was bouncing around and his ECG was virtually normal.

I personally think so long as both dog and owner are comfortable and not in any pain or distress, then it's more than fair to continue on.
