hi all,

i have a question about my 10mth old Aussie who would be due in season any day now - very swollen vulva etc,etc which has come about in the past few days. I was checking her today as her mother came in today (fun times ahead :( ) and I noticed that if I went to have a look at her girly bits she would yelp and run away.

all of my girls have been FANTASTIC about having me check their bits, so this is very unusual for her. It was like she was really in pain.

Everything else seems normal, although she is a little red around the vulva too (not abnormal coming into season).

she did have a bout of mild vaginitis at about 4-6mths of age which cleared up quickly, but I'm wondering whether this may also be a contributing factor (the past few days she's had the same sort of yukky discharge, but no bloody discharge).

So.... is this normal?!

Now... the fun of housing two girls in season....... oh dear

Personally I would have her checked out.......redness is normal for a bitch that overly cleanses herself.....the discharge should be examined by your vet.

If she has an infection it will supress her normal season until such time the infection is cleared.....I don't know for certain if a pup can get Pyometra but it is something to consider.....external discharge Pyometra can be treated with drugs.....

Consult your vet.......the safest option.....
