I have a 10 mo greyhound and have just bought a crate. what is the best way to get her used to it. she seems quite comfortable going in and out of it

Lynda

Lynda, first of all I would make a positive association between her and the crate. One way would be, feed her in the crate her normal dinner or bones etc. Leave door open and then slowly start closing the door. You can do the same with toys, blankets etc. When she goes into crate on her own accord give her lots of praise.

Basically she needs to see the crate as a nice place to be.

Good luck and I'm sure you may find other info if you google crate training. (maybe you already have )

cheers

i am surprised how much they like it. My foster spent time in it asleep, he got out and my grey got in it and is fast asleep. they have done this on their own accord. they seem to like being confined, not that i have zipped them in yet
