How To Read Feeding Guide

Hi everyone!

I just want to check with someone whether I understand the feeding guide on my puppy's food. It's Royal Canin Junior Dachshund Formula (yes I got sucked in by his picture on the packaging lol).

So It says that for a dog with an adult weight of 4kgs (Which I'm guessing he will be as he is a miniature), at 3 months old he should be getting 95G of kibble for the day (so a third for brekkie, lunch and dinner). Does that seem right? It just seems like a lot more than i've been giving with his old kibble but he had mince with that too. In the Royal Canin cups it equates to a cup and 1/8th a day. He seems to be a good weight at the moment.

Thanks in advance!

Hi nadz. I'm yet to follow a feeding guide on food. They are usually rather generous with their suggestions! I give them the amount that looks right and judge by how well they are doing on it. Some dogs need quite a bit of food and others do very well on a lot less.

oh great thanks so much Gretel! I wasn't sure hehe. I'll probably give him nearly half  But he's puppy training at the moment so he gets lots of snacks as well as kongs. i'll just be sure to watch his weight!
