Run Free Myra - 14 Years Old Newfoundland

Last night we had to say goodbye to our sweet girl Myra.

Myra (Aust CH Bouvet Myra) was 14 years, 2 months old.

The hardest part was that her mind was still as good as ever, her back legs gave up and she could not stand.

Myra was our wonder dog....

- at 10 years of age, she blew a cruciate, and we had to make the choice to give surgery a go, which at her age was very risky, or to let her go. We are so thankful that we gave her a chance.

- at 11 and a half years of age, she somehow severed her tongue and almost bled out, again we were advised that at her age, with that amount of blood loss, surgery was very unlikely to save her, and they couldn't stabilise her before putting her under as she just kept bleeding.....later that night we got the call to say we could come and get her. Only once she had fully recovered did the vet let on that they were positive that she would not, could not, make it through the blood loss and surgery.

She was stubborn and knew what she wanted, she would bark for her meals and if she wanted to go outside. None of the other dogs ever messed with her, and she liked to think she could chase the horse.

She will be missed terribly.

Run and play with your son Cowan.
