That poor man and his dog. :D

I hope he recovers. Hope his guide dog is all right too. If the poor thing can't work again that is so much money and time down the drain. :)

That behaviour of that woman is just disgusting. :mad

I hope they can track her down and get some justice for this man and his dog.

I can't believe I missed this! What an absolutely disgusting thing to happen. I feel so sad for this man and his family

Poor dog :)

I hope the woman concerned is feeling very, very sorry for what happened. Sad thing is though that she probably doesn't care and is, in some strange way, trying to turn it into his fault or his dogs fault to make herself feel less guilty and lay the blame elsewhere

I hope the man and his dog recover

Same here, some people have no idea, I hope she is found & jailed.

I know guide dogs aren't supposed to react to anything outside their job, maybe the guide dog thought David was under threat & that's why it reacted the way it did.

Saying that, there is a young woman with her black Lab who often get on the crowded train I use two stations before I get off, I always give her my seat because I'll soon be getting off. Funny thing is though, her dog sniffs me constantly, wagging her tail, her owner tells her to stop being cheeky, I say I don't mind, as she can obviously smell Kenny, OH & I do shower & wash my clothes. :rasberry:

I though some people may like to know that David Correa is slowly improving, his mother left a comment on a webpage.

"Pasquale Casino

The good samaritan wishes to remain anonymous..need the dog person to come forward and face the music... on a positive note, David is now awake and looking healthier."

I will be forever grateful;David has a long way to recover, but with his determination and care he is receiving I know he will get there.

Thanks God there are people like this lady who don’t hesitate to help someone in need,in my heart she’ll always be my hero.

God bless her

This has to be the saddest story I've heard for years. My heart bleeds for the poor bloke and his family. Good that he's out of a coma, but sounds like he'll feel the effects for the rest of his life -- and quite likely his life will be shortened. Sometimes I wish I believed in heaven and hell, and could have confidence that the person who allowed their dog to attack would be roasted in the flames of. Sounds unlikely that the person will be found and charged.

Thanks for the update swissgirl. I'm glad to hear there's some improvement for this poor guy. I am sure the woman who caused this has no understanding of what an idiot she is, but I'm equally sure karma will get her anyway.

Best wishes to David for a full recovery ..... and so that he and his family can pursue this callous and irresponsible dog owner and see her in court.

I have had a gutful of people with her selfish attitude.

I have had a gutful of people who do not give a fig about the adverse consequences of letting their dogs run loose and uncontrolled in public areas.

Sue, David, sue.

She might then have a better understanding of what an idiot she is.

Souff

You'd think dog walkers would know who she was, or at least the area she comes from. If I were the Guide Dog Assn I'd have a PI (expensive I know :D ) haunting the area looking for the woman and radiating out to other areas where dogs are walked.

Dog walkers tend to stick to our regular routes and get to know at least the names of the dogs and the general area that people come from.

Poor Correa family. No news on facebook about the guide dog though.

And people get all het up when the question of CCTV is raised. I'm all for it.

After working for Guide Dogs SA, I can honestly say that some general dog owners are completely stupid and have no idea.

Numerous times when training young future guide dogs in public areas, people with normal dogs decide to try and socialise their dogs with my dog in training!!

The puppy had a guide dog coat in training on and I was in uniform, when this has happened.

You also wouldn't believe the amount of people who want to pat guide dogs, and then get offended when told "No".

The dog is working and cant afford to have extra distractions. Don't they know how dangerous this can be??? They can cause major dog distraction!

Guide Dogs play a very important role in the community, they are not there for people to pat or for other dogs to socialise with.

So PLEASE if you see a Guide Dog or Puppy....Stay out of its way and let it do its job!!!

I totally agree with you. I know I'm a little late replying but thought I would make a comment. Glad David is recovering. I hope that horrible woman gets karma. I totally know whats it like to have my dog attacked. I have a seeing eye dog and have had a couple of dogs attack him. Usually it's people walking there dogs off lead. This is very dangerous for a blind person having dogs come up to them. For instance I was walking my dog at a busy crossing and this old man tried to get his little dog to say hello to mine while we were walking across but luckily my boy was not taking any notice.

Also it's amazing the amount of people that try to pat my seeing eye dog. When I tell them that you can't pat him they think I'm being rude then there are some old people that have abused me and told me thats it cruel to have the harness on my dog, but he enjoys work and he isn't always on harness. In fact a lot of Guide/Seeing Eye Dogs have a lot of free time when not working. When off harness they can be normal dogs.

Seeing Eye Dogs and Guide Dogs are marvellous and without my dog I wouldn't be so independant. I hope David's dog will be ok and that the trauma doesn't stay with him.

I'm glad to hear David is doing better.

I wonder how his guide dog is?

The bond between guide dog and owner is often very strong as they spend most of their time together and put a lost of trust into each other, so even if the dog wasn't physically hurt, I wonder how he/she is doing emotionally?
