I'd like to take Banjo to the upcoming practice trials but I've never been to one before so just wondering can I just do one exercise like the heeling and that's it and if so how does that work, do I just let the judge know what I want to run through. Thanks in advance :) .

Absolutely Tiggy! You can do any exercise in any order you like or even just bits. There's an article in the Canine News written by myself and Ptolomy on page 13. I usually let the judge or caller know what my intentions are but if it goes pear shaped you can abort and do something else ;)

Tiggy - you can pay as much as you want to go into the ring as often as you want - thats the beauty of the practice trials. ;)

As you walk into the ring you can say to the judge I would just like to do a SFE and a recall, or can I do heelfree and a change of positions, or I want to reward for attention at the start post so do you mind asking me if I am ready several times or can I practice coming into the ring removing my lead and lining up at the start post and then rewarding, or can you call me a really short heel pattern and then I would like to run out of the ring and play with my dog.

You never know your luck - I might be one of the novice judges :grouphug:

You could always bring Banjo to a conformation show and practice in the lunch break, that would be pretty similar to an obidience trial right? Or is it the judge being there that would help?

I was there last night - looking like a dork - heeling around show dogs ;)

Hehehehe - only because you handle too many dogs and you wouldn't have time to be a judge. You would make a good judge I think although maybe not your rather picky and critical and mostly wish to bash the handlers up with 4x2s - well me at any rate ;) :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug: .

Ptolomy is VERY scary to train with - least for some reason I seem to do better when she has knocked some sense into me or is at least watching.

:grouphug: bedazzledx2. Not sure I'd ever enter under you either - not sure who is more scary you or Ptolomy :grouphug::grouphug::rofl::rofl: .

Ok better run from this thread now ;) , before it starts conjuring up images that gives me serious nightmares :p .

Didn't really know about it

When was it?

Actually it does ring a bell, but I guess I've just been too preoccupied to remember  I really need to get back into training.... talk about a lazy training start to the year

Yikes look out Tiggy, Ptolomy as a novice judge that is a scary picture :confused::laugh::laugh::) .

Its about as close as I am ever going to get to being a judge

So how come you won't be a judge? Just too busy with your own mob? I could see you as a judge - but please oh please, don't wear the Toller coloured pants :) My dog has enough distraction problems as it is with you around :)
