Bokeh

Someone asked what is bokeh? I am no expert!! but I thought it might be good to have a thread dedicated to your favourite bokeh shots. I'd never heard the word until about a year ago although I knew I loved certain photos with that amazing shallow depth of field. The Japanese have certainly made an art form of it, there's good and bad bokeh. I dont know if I am discerning enough to know the difference, although I have to say I have seen some stunning and mesmerising photos taken with the 85mm 1.2 which is reknowned for it's ability to produce beautiful bokeh.

Here's one I liked, taken with the 70-200mm @ 2.8

I quite like this one too although the whole pic is a bit washed out. It was taken with the notoriously crappy 75-300 non IS @ 5.6

do you know, when I was writing it I thought to myself I bet Iltby has some beauties!

That king parrot is amazing, it almost glows.

I love the softness in this one of Penny. I think it adds to her looking soft and kind, which she is sometimes, but she didn't race under the name of Little Savage for nothing either.

50mm @ 1.4 I think

100mm Macro @ 2.8
