Bellatrix
Sorry if this has been explained else where before.... Can someone please explain to me the difference between buying a lens here in Australia, compared to buying overseas in terms of warranty. I am looking at the canon 100mm 2.8 macro on DWI which have it for $660 + $40 postage. http://www.dwidigitalcameras.com.au/store/...sp?idProduct=30 Has anyone bought from this place before? Any advice? Thanks
kja
Canon lenses have international warranties. Canon bodies have warranties in the country of purchase. dwi is a popular place to buy from the canon 100 2.8 macro ROCKS Edited January 21, 2010 by kja

DMA
Nothing wrong with DWI but shop around elsewhere to get the best price as there's several American shops worth looking at I've gone with Cameta Camera, in the past (via eBay), & I've been thoroughly satisfied in both price, delivery time, & equipment quality (I've gotten an E-30 & a 18-180mm lens from them). Importantly they have a wide range of gear for many brands. So they maybe worth a search. Here's their eBay URL: http://stores.shop.ebay.com.au/Cameta-Camera__W0QQ_armrsZ1 Again there's 47th Street Photo via eBay. I've never bought from them, although I'm watching a 12-60mm SWD lens of theirs, so they maybe worth looking at as well considering they too cover Canon. Their URL is http://shop.ebay.com.au/47st.photo/m.html?...p;_trksid=p3686 Good luck shopping Edited January 21, 2010 by DMA
Pennyroyal
Without diverting this thread too much, does anyone know if third party lens also have an international warranty? Brands like sigma, tokina, tamron etc
DMA
If you all don't know already, one warning about importing goods. If the item, or items, are worth more than $1 000au, customs will hit you with importation duty. It's rather heavy too It's in the hundreds depending upon what the item(s) are worth. Bellatrix
I just made my purchase! They had it for $650 today! ($10 cheaper than yesterday) and even got $10 off freight! (kinda makes up for the credit surcharge). But, all in all, $693.80 well spent! So excited! EFS Edited January 21, 2010 by Bellatrix
