cornell - Welcome to this thread! How exciting getting a new goldie pup! I'm in the same boat as you. I've got an older girl and we had to think long and hard about whether getting a puppy was the right thing to do. But she has lost her spark lately and whenever she is with other dogs/puppies she gets that spark back. We get our new goldie pup in just over a week so I will have to let you know how she goes with him.

A puppy shower sounds fun!!! And yes, I am suffering badly from puppy fever!

Thank you for the kind greeting :( It really does help to know that you are going through the same thing. Tia also sparkles when other dogs are around. The last week should fly by since you have been waiting so long. I look forward to hearing your news and to see how you all get on. GOOD LUCK!

Only 3 more sleeps!

Just a quick one regarding socialisation. Both my mum and my aunt have dogs, would it be alright for my little man (probably around 9-10 weeks when they meet) to meet up with them and play? Both my mums and my aunts dogs are vaccinated. Or is it best to wait until my pup has his 12 week vaccination before socialising with them? It would be at one of their houses, not a public place.

Nushie - Are you excited??? I wish I only had 3 more sleeps left! From my understanding it is ok to socialise your pup with dogs that you know are vaccinated and well behaved. Just make sure you carry him from the car to the house. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong!

cornell - welcome. I love goldies! It was one of my choices when buying a puppy. I've got a border collie now and its super duper hyper active (if you know what i mean). :( I might get another pup in 2 years time. I think Oreo would love to have some company. I am leaning towards golden retriever or shetland sheepdog. But Oreo might be too much for a sheltie. I will see how Oreo grows up into. If he is not too boisterous when he grows up, I might get a sheltie!

Nushie - great! 3 more sleeps is short! The puppy preschool trainer told me that we could socialise the pup and walk in public places AS LONG AS they do not sniff other dog's wee and poo. They can come into contact with vaccinated dogs. I have been bringing Oreo around after the 12 week vaccination to socialise him. He nips other dogs in the puppy preschool so I am letting him meet more dogs so he would be well-socialised. So far he didn't nip on other dogs that he met. I let him have a quick 'hello' and then I moved on. I can't imagine when he is 6 months old and whenever he sees a dog, he goes crazy!

Emery is your puppy home safe with you now?

yes she is here safe and sound

yeh nicolatu a rottweiler is a big black and tan dog and most are teddy bears  i was afraid of them to i met an absolute teddy bear.

I'll 2nd that! My Mum had a rotti and he was the biggest sook. He'd bound over to you for hugs every chance he got and sit right at your legs/feet just to be sure he'd get a pat, I absolutely adored him. Loyal to the family and friendly to anyone that was introduced to him.

i've known rottis like this and ones that think they are lap dogs.

well i picked her up from the airport all well brought her home, met the neighbour as i had to drop his mail off had a drink a toilet and a feed, slept in the laundry last night and the noise she is very loud lol but she is happy in there today with the backdoor open, we had a poo indoors last night but i was so tired from having a child in hospital last few days i slept and didn't take her out so my fault but toilet training starting fully today :( she is gorgeous and i am smitten

Oh Oh Oh...can I please join? I have just adopted a puppy from the RSPCA shelter. He is 14 weeks old and a Golden Retriever crossed with hell who knows! Sorry...no photos til Saturday when I can pick him up from the vets after he is desexed tomorrow. He dosen't look at all like a Goldie. He is black and brindle with a very long kissable nose and long floppy ears. He is on the RSPCA Warrnambool website if you want to have a look...not a great piccie but oh well!

I went there with my 14 month old dog and the two seemed very comfortable with eachother. And I got lots of cuddles!

After a bit of thought, I have decided to call him Lochie. My very first male dog and I am already in love!

Emery - Awww what a little sweetie pie!!

Tez - Congrats on your new addition, but you really need to post pics as soon as you can! Do you know why he was at the pound, was it an unwanted litter? Geez people are so cruel, at least now he will be much loved. What breed a is your other dog?

I know what you mean! I wish I could just sleep for the next week so that I can just wake up and have it be "puppy day" already!

Nushie, how exciting! You know the longer you have to wait, the more puppy stuff you get to buy. We waited in total 6 months for our puppy, she's been here 3 weeks and we love her to bits. She's the happiest, smoochiest dog I've ever met. Ok I'm biased, as every good Mum should be.

And our little Georgie Girl is growing some coat. She's starting to get used to the grooming, its taken a bit but we're making progress.

Tez pup is a goldie x stag hound, some dick is pumping up pups left right and centre, you can nearly custom order what you want your staghound crossed with, so many end up at the pound they are not a nice looking dog.

emery, your rottweiler is stunning, lovely to see such a well breed dog

Cornell - we are the same - we have an older girl (9 this year) and are getting a puppy next week. I too worry that we're doing the right thing - I hope so. As for puppy fever - I've been burning up for a while!!

Nushie - you must be soooo excited!

Emery - she is beautiful - a little sweetheart.

Tez - congratulations on Lochie. I can't wait to see photos.

Michelle - she's lovely, isn't she? Glad she's getting used to the grooming. Our little guy is going to need lots of grooming and I plan on doing some each day so it's a regular part of his routine. You're right about extra time to buy stuff LOL!

Well I think he is lovely! Not a nice looking dog to you but beautiful to me! Luckily beauty is in the eye of the beholder otherwise all our dogs would look the same!
