Waiting For A Puppy This Thread Is For You

Sometimes things change PF. She obviously decided to go with a different breed and she has her reasons. She has already said that she decided to go with a shortcoat breed.

Strange how a breeder doing it about a puppy placement gets a different reaction though isn't it?

Well my husband has no idea why I'm so excited so I thought I'd share it with people who "might" understand..........

The bitch is in season!!!! Which means hopefully my pup will be concieved soon :thumbsup: and then the long wait starts til the pregnancy is confirmed, and then the wait to see what pups are delivered and if there is some little girls, fingers crossed for at least 2 little girls (breeder wants to keep one too)

I know it's a bit daft, but I'm excited  LOL

She had no breeder in mind, was only tossing around the idea of a few different breeds. She was looking at a Lappie at one stage too, why not have a go over that too.

Breeders do change their minds about puppy placement, frequently.

If you have a problem with what BB has done or is doing, then I suggest you politely discuss it with her in a PM. This is not the place to be ragging on people.

This is for members and their up and coming puppy joy. Keep the negative vibes elsewhere.

You seem happy to send negative vibes at a breeder who's a member here BB. You've stuck it to her twice in this thread. You keep this thread to puppy joy and you won't see me for dust.

There never was a grey Terv puppy with my name in it, I was researching my breeds and thought about getting another Belgian Shepherd, now I'm not .. so end of story

Not quite. Posted by you in this only puppy joy no negativity thread in January this year.

I'm on the waiting list for a Grey Tervueren Belgian Shepherd puppy .. a male this time

So this was total bullshit then? Ok. Noted.

Oooo massive congrats Jodie :D So you will have winter middle of the night toilet training sessions? hehe

Why can't men get excited about a canine in season

eta - all the best with your future puppies all, I won't be posting any longer in regards to my new addition.

Jodi I completely understand where your coming from, I was in the same spot last year. My hubby didn't get it either. And then after all that excitement they still didn't have a pup for us. I was disappointed at the time, but just figured its not meant to be, but I stayed in contact with the breeder and crossed everything that one of the two girls they kept wouldn't work out and that exactly what happened.

We're meeting our gorgeous girl on Easter Sunday.

So the moral of my story is yes, get excited but don't assume there will be one for you in this litter as there may not. But if you have a good rapport with the breeder stick with them, it will be worth it in the end.

Ahhh so funny! I put Maggie's crate together last night and heck it is HUGE!!!!! I put the divider in the middle and my husband and I could fit in on one side each easily!! haha! So the problem was, where does this monstrosity go?? We couldn't fit it anywhere without it being a huge inconvenience. But we came up with a clever idea, for now we have tipped it on it's side, and taken out the bottom tray. So now it's just tall, rather than long! I've covered it in and old black tablecloth, put in the bed and some toys, and now it looks much nicer.

It's still in the way, but it will just have to do for now! I'll post some photo's, perhaps when Maggie is in it! 6 DAYS!

Hope Lola gets to her Mummy today!!

BB ~ Don't let other peoples comments turn you away :( I hate it when people have to re-read every single thing you wrote previously and then comment about it....things change, people change, dreams change. So what if you where thinking about a particular breed, so what if you found a breeder and where on a list....hey so was I, but that changed when I got offered a pup sooner than expected. Please don't go and stay here with us, we'd love to share your puppy with you.

Jodi ~ I so get where your coming from....it IS exciting :) I don't think we will be able to make into the Show tomorrow. Its going to be warm and Pugs don't tolerate heat very well, plus I have lots to do here. So we might give it a miss this year. Sorry about that :(

Lauren ~ ;) yes they do look big don't they, especially compared to tiny puppies :D But good thinking about turning it on its side. I have our crate in the lounge. It is in the way, but it just adds to the rest of the clutter thats there :mad

Michelle ~ How exciting, how old will she be then? What a great Easter surprise :) I hope she is all what you wanted :o

Nic ~ Poor Oreo....I hope he gets better quick. And yah on the no crying......I am a zombie at the moment.....the 1st night wasn't too bad at all. The 2nd Zoe cried for 4 hrs, I got up to check on her in case she was crying for help....but nope everything was fine. I ended up getting up and staying in the lounge with her all night watching TV, and her on my lap....funny how she slept like a log  3rd night she did the same thing.....but I tried to ignore it, so I read all night in bed, unable to sleep with the noise. 4th night, she cried for about 2hrs, then was quiet until 6am, when my oldest daughter got up to take her outside. I hope this doesn't go on for much longer, I have bags under my eyes and I am hoping the neighbours can't hear her too much  I get tired and cranky at night with lack of sleep, but during the day she's an angel  I'm not sure what else I can do to stop her crying for so long..... :(

Well as you can see she is a Jekyll and Hyde pup ;) but great every other time. OH suggested I tire her out so she will sleep.....with how active she already is I don't think that will work :( but then he's away working, and hopes that she stops doing this before he comes home.....the cheeky sod

I gave Zoe her dry food for dinner last night, and I added some sardines.....OMG does she love them  she never stopped licking her lips for ages after. I'm glad she likes it. I am hoping to get some more pictures of her today, so I'll post them later. Oh and the cat has now excepted her now, when Zoe gets too excited the cat jumps away. But its nice to see the cat laying on the floor and Zoe comes up to sniff and the cat doesn't run away anymore. I think it has helped heaps with Zoe being smaller than the cat

Thats Ok, I understand, Zoe's needs come first and she is just a baby so would probably be too much for her :o When I get my baby we will have to meet up though ok :)

BF, I think you need to ignore her and stay in bed. Even if she thinks your asleep by going to her you'll make the barking worse. Because she's getting the result she wants. Be careful you don't want to end up with a dog that can't be on its own. My parents dog is like that and its not fun to live with. Their dog freaks out if you put him outside and close the glass door, he can see you but in his mind he's seperated. He was a rescue dog though who lived the majority of his life dumped in someones backyard.

Thats just my 2cents, I'm by no means an expert.

We're meeting Georgia on Sunday but won't be bringing her home until the 23rd. Because we are going on holidays, we leave next thursday. We met the whole litter when they were 8 weeks old, but at that point we didn't know we would eventually get one. Georgia will be 16 weeks old when she gets home. My breeders dogs are so social and outgoing though so I'm not worried about her being under-socialised. Her socialisation will just continue once we get her home. We plan to start obedience with her hon 1st May, that should be fun.

Jodie, will definitely do a puppy play date

Michelle ~ I am trying to ignore her, I only ever went to her twice, once to see if she was OK and the second to stay with her.....its just...have you ever heard a Pug cry?:) They have the loudest, highest pitch cry in the world :mad it just goes through you....though my girls sleep through it every night.....I can't. But I am not going to go to her anymore. Hopefully she understands...one day :) that when she goes to bed its for the night and thats it.....I'm just hoping and praying it won't take months :o I have been hoping she will lose her voice from the crying she does.....she has breaks of a few minutes sometimes and she has dropped down to 2hrs now..... :D I'd laugh if I wasn't so tired. Well at least your puppy with get great socialisation with being at the breeders for longer. Thats more than most pups, like Zoe, will ever get.

Ok, I'm the breeder who cancelled the sale on BB and the reason was because I was warned not by one other breeder but by FOUR other breeders (non DOL members too BTW) NOT to sell to her because she is a fruit loop, as a responsible breeder I had to listen, I did some research of my own and did get very nervous so I sent her a 'feeler' email, an email that left her with a few options to the problem solving of this particular pup, but what I received back :) well let's just say her response completely and utterly confirmed all suspicions!!! Sorry guys for all the delusions you may have had about her, but cyber persona's can be completely different to real life, sad but true ;) if any of you take any advice at all, what is said by those you don't personally know, always take it with a grain of salt, keep being friendly with those you want to, but don't get in too deep if you don't truly know all the facts :D

I wouldn't have bothered posting but this is what prompted me.

I much much prefer this breeder to the first, so I'm VERY glad the first one fell through!! Even though it sucked at the time.

2PSINAPOD ~ I love the username....very clever :D your right of course. I never except anyone telling me how bad someone is, I have to judge for myself, but thats in real life. In cyber space its different, I tend to expect everyone is telling the truth and I have been knocked down several times for my naivety :) As a breeder I understand your only way to protect your puppies is to use your gut feeling and the knowledge of others. It must be hard trying to weed out the good from the bad....and it goes in reverse too ;) I have met some 'unusual' type breeders in my time, that I am also glad I didn't buy a puppy from. Thank you though for coming in and explaining.

Hi BF I got an advice for you. Do the training in the crate and leave her there in the DAY. This way you don't have to worry about waking your neighbour up and still get training done. When Oreo just came home. He cries in the crate during the night so I have to get up to calm him down so he don't wake our neighbour up. My gf train him during the day. When he is put into the crate, he starts crying. Once he is quiet, he is let out. Keep repeating and the pup wil know making sounds will not let him out but keeping quiet will get him praise, treats and let out. Hope I am making sense. Just the way we do it. I might be wrong though.

We trained Oreo to be left alone today. We put him into the crate with some treats and then we keep him in there while we do our household chores. He cries for awhile and goes back to sleep.

Thank you Nic ;)

I have used the crate once or twice during the day when we do stuff outside and no one can supervise her. She is pretty good about it that way, especially with treats. Last night she only cried for just over an hour....so she is improving and woke up again as 6am. So not too bad. I had to strip the crate today as she tore the towel I had in there apart, and the mess  but its all cleaned, washed, and hanging on the washing line, though the towel has to be disposed of as there were little bits of it everywhere. I'll persevere with it....I just think like your pup they need to know its not a bad place, and that they do get let out in the end. Thanks for the tip though, and whatever you do in training your pup is right if it works for you.

Today hubby and I need to rip four rhododendron plants out. I've just found out they are very poisonous to dogs if they eat the flowers or leaves. They are quite big, so will be a big job but its just not worth the risk. I never knew there was a problem with them, but aparantly azalea's are in the same group and are poisonous too. So please check if you have any of these in your yards too.

Michelle ~ I bought the book Poisonous2Pets we too have been getting rid of plants because they are poisonous to the animals. We just had to cut down our 10yr old 12ft high Cherry Tree, these are also highly toxic to animals....I cannot believe the amount of plants that are poisonous or cause severe allergies in dogs. What we have left are fine ;) OH was worried there wouldn't be any plants left we could have in the back yard  but its better to be safe than sorry.
